lots of bear activity?
« on: June 10, 2008, 03:34:21 PM »
I was west of Phillips and saw a lot of bear tracks. Even got one on the trail cam and saw a brute on the atv trail. Anyone seeing a lot of bear sign or is it just by chance. Sure seems to be a lot of bear around this year, and a lot of deer too for such a hard winter.

I saw one on the sidewalk in the middle of town while out for my afternoon walk on Monday. It leapt out in front of me at a range of about 50 yards. At first glance I thought "what a huge dog", it was looking away from me. By huge I mean twice as big as the largest dog, maybe 300 pounds. It then looked directly at me and I was more than a little surprized. This is the third bear I have seen on the same street for three years in a row. To answer your question, yes, lots of bear activity, to much. It is time to open season on them, in a big way and I am willing to do my part. The town I am speaking of is Rice Lake WI, in the NW corner of the state.

Sightings have been increasing around Eau Claire here for awhile.
This spring has been pretty active-seems like more than usual.

That's because all of a sudden the biologists have found there are twice as many black bears in the State as previously thought!  ???

The bear counts may be off, but at least the deer numbers are right on!   :)

dont forget wolf numbers as well.   i dont think those clowns at the dnr could count how many fingers they have, let alone a population of wild animals.
