which pellet rifle for a beginner?
« on: June 10, 2008, 04:44:17 PM »
I'm planning on purchasing a pellet rifle this next week but being new to pellet rifles I don't know which one to get. Over 50 and experienced with bp and old x-military rifles. I'm hoping to keep the price under $500 and I plan on doing target shooting and small game. I used to bow hunt so getting close isn't a problem.

People seem to be liking their Discovery's in .22 or if you want a powerhouse hunter that can be dialed-down for pest birds in the backyard the Sumatra 2500 Carbine in .22 or .25 is the ticket and a lever-action repeater to boot.  Very powerful.

The new Benjamin Discovery is the entry-level PCP (precharged pneumatic) being touted to many looking to get their feet wet in the PCP.  I'd recommend a spring-piston myself.  Is your $500 limit with or without the optics?
