Shot for 54 smoothbore
« on: June 12, 2008, 05:34:00 AM »
It is getting really bad around here since all the rain.   I am wondering if I should use 9 shot or dust in my 54 smooth bore.  The targets come in droves and you can't even stay outside. I am hoping with the shot and smoke I will make it to the garage without getting drained of blood. The enemy is the WISCONSIN MONSTER MOSQUITO!!!!  Take no Prisoners

Fifty grains of FFg with a wad and 80 grains of kosher salt will do for skeeters out to about ten yards.  :D

In Minnesota I used to hunt deer with a shotgun. I'd sit in the back yard and when one of the giant mosquitoes would fly over I'd pop away with 00 buck. The buckshot wouldn't kill the mosquito but would often cause it to drop the deer it was carrying. ;D
The story of David & Goliath only demonstrates the superiority of ballistic projectiles over hand weapons, poor old Goliath never had a chance.
