I am happy to report that gas is now $2.19 here in SW Pa. It is now lower than when it started to take it's big spike. Dale

I think the reason it is higher here is because Pa has some of the highest taxes on gas in the US. Dale

$1.70 is the lowest I've seen in my area this week. We do manage to be cheaper than most places though even with the .34 per gallon tax.  South Carolina

I sure wish OUR gas would be $3.00 a gallon.  I just filled up today and it was $6.379 per gallon here in Dillingham, Alaska and that's down from $6.4 something in Sept.  #1 stove oil is $6.61 a gallon.  I hear our legislature is investigating why gas and oil prices stay so high in Alaska, even on the road system where there is a refinery and relatively easy access to year round supplies from west coast refineries.  In our area and north, the fuel is bought on the spot market in early to mid summer for delivery in Sept and Oct.  Then our ports freeze up and that's what we have to live with until mid April or early May.

Enjoy your sub $3 prices while you can.

  Keep in mind;
  The "oil problem" eased and the "economic crisis" came along just in time to get the Dems elected. They may not know how to effectively run a vibrant economy but they have been great at rigging elections for many decades..especially if Chicago-based.
     Barney Frank & Chris Dodd kept the lid on Fannie & Freddie until the "opportune" time..the Arabs did not cut back production as quickly as they usually do. Were they doing a "friend & ally" a favor ? Uhh..the oil prices went down for election purposes..expect they will climb back up..in a quiet manner..
 ...And don't forget, Obama had some multi-billionaires such as Geo Soros and Warren buffett, working hard to gain his election.

   TM..that might just be a possible conspiracy worth looking into...are you going to do that ?

Sure hope those "devious" Dems correct the "economic crisis" as quickly as they corrected the "oil problem".

Crude is under $50 a barrel now. Gas prices are in the $1.70 range here. The Arabs have cut oil production and it does not seem to be stemming the down turn in prices. Commodities keep going down. Jobs going down. Stock prices just keep going down too. Ain't deflation grand?

is  there anything to  this??

http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/bakken.asp

This is not new about the "Bakken". Been talked about for years but it wasn't econimacally feasable at the price oil was bringing. At the current price, $46, spot price yesterday, nothing is going to happen in the Bakken now either. Alternate energy and high cost oil extraction is basically dead in the water for the time being.

The report about oil only 1000' below the surface of the Rocky Mountains is really hard to believe. 1000' oil is rare and given the geological makeup of the Rockies it seems a poor candidate for this to occur. As much geological expoloration as has been done over the years it is hard to see how it could have been overlooked.

No new oil finds. A tremendous amount of drilling and oil and gas production has been done in the last 10 years in my area. This has taken place where it was considered not worthwhile to explore until a few years ago. It is all deep and expensive to drill for. Price drives oil and gas exploration just like any other resource. Can't make a profit, it won't happen.

It still bothers me that gasoline is selling for $2.30 right here where we we produce the stuff while areas that haven't a clue what an oil well looks like are enjoying prices well under $2.00 a gallon. It is nothing new. It's always been that way.

To the question: In light of the price of gasoline now being below $2.00 per gallon around here--I sure as hell hope we never see $3.00 again, but I wasn't born yesterday.  I'll just enjoy it while it's good.

  As the American people start to relax, stop clamoring for domestic drilling and the Obamanation begins, so the oil Sheikhs won't have to woory about us becoming energy independent through nuclear, coal or drilling..the oil prices will start to climb all over again.
