Hey 'all

What bullets gives best accuracy in your winchester 94's in .444 marlin?

I've been testing out 240 gr remingtons and 265 gr hornadys, the 240's seem to give best accuracy...

deerhunter - either will give you great accuracy out of your M94 Winchester Big Bore.

I use IMR 4198 or H4198 with the 240s.  A book load is 47 gns of IMR 4198 and I also gave you a H4198 loading in another response (49 gns I think).  These loadings have given me grat accuracy from a rifle identical to yours.

You can also use 3031 powder - 55 gns with the 240 gn slug.

I use Hornaday slugs for the .430 diameter rather than a .429 diameter bullet.  I use 45.3 gns of IMR4198 or 52.8 gns of 3031 powder with the 265 gn slug.  Both loadings give you about 2200'/sec.

Both those loads are good for just about anything 'deer - like' you may wish to hunt and the heavier slug works very well on hog and Black Bear.  If you want to shoot heavier slugs and shoot cast slugs as well, get onover to the Beartooth Bullets website and have a ball reading about the tests they have completed with heavier cast slugs - it just might change your entire perspective on the 444.  HTH.  Mikey.
