Lead time for Bearthooth bullets

I placed an order with Beartooth Bullets the last of February. They called last Friday to let me know they were shipping them out. Just about 3 1/2 months. If you want bullets for next fall hunting season, you had better place your order now.

BTW prices have went up too. For the .4315" 265 grain bullets I ordered from $18/100 + shipping to $21/100 + shipping

I was not bashing Beartooth, I was just warning folks that if they want thier bullets, they need to order now to get them in time for fall hunting. This is my first time ordering from them. If they perform as well as advertised, I will be getting more, but with a lot of lead time built in.

I ordered from Beartooth twice, and both times it took 3 to 4 months to get my bullets. I now use Montana Bullet Works exculsively, and have been very happy with their product and QUICK service. Dave makes good bullets and is easy to talk to on the phone if you have any questions.

Yep, I'm still waiting for Beartooth bullets ordered March 17th,  I won't be ordering any more from them.

I placed my first order with Beartooth bullets in Feb. I had kind of forgetten about them until I read your post.
If they ever ship, I hope I won't like them. I would hate to have to order more.

I placed a $200 order in mid March and called yesterday and was told my order was near the top shouldn't be much longer.  Took so long I've now started casting my own. Don't think I'll reorder.

I happen to like their bullets , so when I start to get low , I make sure that I give them plenty of time to get my order done . That and I read the page on their web site that said that orders are done on a first come / first filled basis .

Stimpy - you are not alone on liking their bullets. I guess that is why they are so far behind. Some folks want instant gratification. They are used to the fact that items set on a shelf and they pick what they want and get it mail order with in a few days. Beartooth is a custom shop. All it takes is some planning ahead.

Back when I used them I found that the .358" 185 gr. FN GC to be excellent in my .357 max.

Their bullets shot good (although no better than the bullets from Montana bullet Works) but when you call to check on your order they would give you the run-around, saying they should ship out next week and 3 weeks later you still don't have them. I had to get on to El Paso Saddlery Co. about the same thing. If you tell me it's going to ship next week, then I expect to have it next week. If it's going to be a month, then say it's going to be a month, and I won't call back thinking something happened to my order. All I ask for is folks to be upfront and truthful.

John R. - You may be correct. I would not know, I never called them because I figured If I keep calling them, they would be spending less time making bullets. That is the reason I posted this in the first place, so people would know what to expect and to make sure they do not wait until September to order their hunting bullets, because they would be disappointed. 3 1/2 months lead time. When I posted this it was mid June. I ordered the end of February and order conformation was March 1st. That means if you ordered then (mid June) you could expect your bullets late September or early October. Just enough time to make up your loads and get your gun sighted in for big game season. Every day delay will get you closer to disappointment come fall

I shoot year around, and have a good selection of various bullets on hand, so making sure I order 4 months in advance is not a problem. When I run low on a good shooting round, or a new weight or style comes out I usually try it. Like I said I've had real good luck with Montana Bullet Works (they use real LBT molds, and didn't break one off in Veral, like Beartooth did).

There are several companies that make good bullets (and a couple that make crappy ones) but when the website says "NO BACKLOG" I assume that means no backlog, if that is not what it means then I don't know what it does mean.
