Happy Father's Day
« on: June 16, 2008, 03:07:22 PM »
Hope everyone had a good one.  After I opened the cards and told everyone thanks, they left me!   They were on a "good deed mission" and I didn't have to go and work.  So like any self-respecting gun-handi-reloading 'holic, I reloaded some more ammo and went shooting!  Finally took the 45-70 and 22 hornet (thanks Doug) out to the dance.  The 22mag, 45 colt and 30-30 all started cryin' so the went ,too.  The Hornet seems to like the Hornady 35g and 40g V-maxs, but didn't do to bad with the same brand 55g SPSX.   Seirra 45g High vel. spitzer did ok as well, but this is an OLD box not even sure if they still have them.  Think I'll just try to fine-tune the 35 or 40's.  Hornady just keeps doing a good job for me, no matter what caliber.  Only had 12 rounds of 45-70, Plus P 350's made by PMC a few years ago.  They got my attention! :o  Sure am glad I put a slip-on Limbsaver instead of leaving the stock pad on.  Didn't hurt, but sure shoved me around.  The wind was only 20+ mph so seemed "calm" compared to most trips to the range.  22 mag liked the Federal 40g, 30-30 didn't care what it was feed and the 45 colt still needs better sights, or better eyes being used. :D  Oh, yah.  The 22 hornet is now a Buffalo Classic! ;D :D ;D  Looks purdy and the metal butt plate is fine there. ::)  DP.
