I have used both in many different calibers, no problems with either, but like Lloyd said the Starline is usually cheaper.

I use a lot of the Starline and RP for the straight wall but go gentel on the belling. I saw a very good report on the Federal brass for it's toughness and high resistance to case neck splits on the sixguns.com not too long ago.
I cannot help you out any on the Hornady brass...My starline, RP, & some Win hold up well but I think that my main secret for good brass life (to include rifle brass) is to run large inventories of the brass and to keep rotating them.

Starline is OK. I use it in .500 sw.

I have had problems with Hornady in my 8x56R. It seems to be real fragile. This is not a common round so this may not be a problem in other calibers.
