NEW LCP

Just pick up a LCP today.  It looks like a toy (well it is).  Range report coming soon.

Got to do a fair amount of shooting today.  Tried out the new LCP.  The Second picture is the first clip through the gun.  I used Remington 88gr jhp, will test more rounds in the future.  The long DA trigger pull is going to take me awhile to get use too.  Notice the pulled shot.  Not too bad of a group in my mind 3.534 in and take out the pulled shot 2.015 in.  All were shot at 10 yrds today, I would have like to tried some shots closer in and farther out but the range was flooded.  I couldn't move the targets any farther back, and there were so many shooters (most were kids)  I did not want to make them wait on me to drag them in closer so that will be for another day.  I did try some double taps but will have to bring the target in closer to see how it is doing.  That long trigger pull is going to take a lot of practice, even more so to get good with double taps.  The sights on this gun are almost nonexistent.  I found they did shoot low but will try some other ammos first and see what happens.  Most likely the sights on this gun would not be used in a self defense type scenario but I painted them to make them easier to see and faster to acquire just in case.  The gun has been a perfect performer so far.  I weighted it loaded at 12 oz despite that the recoil is not bad.  I did shoot it with one hand and it would tend to roll after about 3 shots but this should be easily over come with some practice and maybe changing my grip slightly.  I may even try one of those slip over rubber grips but do not want it to catch on my pocket when I draw so will have to see on that.  The second group was my last for the day and was 2.101 10 shot group.  I did try to run the gun fast and again the trigger was an issue for me and shots were even lower about a foot.  Again, I think with some practice this will be over come.  For what the gun was made for and the reasons I bought the gun I could not be happier with its performance.

I like the looks of the LCP! Reminds me of my P3ATs. The new Ruger LCP.45 chambered in .45 RAP, (Ruger Automatic Pistol) looks familar too. Can't quite figure out where I've seen a simular pistol before but here it is!  ::)

All in good fun! Looks like Ruger may have improved on the extractor on the P3AT.  Just a shame that a large company like Ruger would copy the design of the KT and go into direct competition with the small American company of KT CNC. Can't be good for KT! Maybe there's enough market out there to support two manufacturers of this small pocket pistol.  We can only hope.

Con grats on your new pocket pistol.
They look interesting.
Let us know more as you try different loadings for the gun.
It would also be neat to see what speed your getting out of the gun.

Last week, I tried monarch 94 gr hp and winchester white box 95 gr fmj.  both shot well.  The monarch in known for being very dirty shooting but is cheap, it was not as cheap a the winchester which will probably be my practice ammo.  I wanted to try it and see what would feed well, would have tried more but all they had that day in the store.  No feeding problems at all, i thought the winchester would give me trouble with the flat bullet structure but no problems.  I shot a lot a 7 yrds and the accuracy out of the little gun was great.  I improved on the above groups mostly, I think I learned how to shoot the gun and control the long trigger better.  The groups were right around 2 inches but contained several mags of ammo.  I even ran the gun fast, mag after mag with no troubles.  I did some double taps which I found to be easy on this gun.  I have tried and tried double taps on my cz and it just never felt right, this gun makes it easy which is perfect since it is a little light on the caliber side.  I shot a few groups at 25 yrds to see how it would do, although it was better than I expected, it was not great--6-8 in groups.  I ran through some tatical drills with it and really liked the way it handles, it is so fast back on target, there is almost no barrel rise, which surprised me for such a light gun.  I am very please with the performace of this little gun.  Sorry woodduck no chronograph.

Well it's something to add to your list for Santa.
I only ask about speeds because I wonder if the Old guys got it right with pocket pistols way beack in the early 1900's and made them in 32 and 380 and not in 9mm or others not due to the size of the frame or the technoligy needed to build a small 9mm like we have now but that 9mm out of a picket sized pistol does not build up the speed that it does out of a longer tube and the 32's and 380's are more effective out of short barrels than are the full power loads.
