Hmmmm, socialism???  I think the 80 million gunowners in the US should band together and create 'Containment Zones' - those will be the cities in which guns and constitutional rights are either banned or overly restricted.  The remainder of the country, the rural and open areas can remain free and whenever someone in a city wants to complain about crime they can complain to those who don't care about their rights.  Seems only fair.  Mikey.

Better than containment zones, lets stop legislation like this dead in it's tracks. If all the gun related forums band together and the membership contacts their Congresscritters and Governors and other Pols then we'll let them now there's a new voting block in play- GUN OWNERS and if we make a big enough stink every time this stuff is tried they'll have to listen. Act now guys, if we loose our right you'll have only yourselves to blame!

I've already written my Congressmen in opposition to the House reinstatement of the Assault weapons ban.  First off, I reminded them that Alaska has a legislative intent enacted that recognizes the individual right to firearms ownership and possession.  These so called assault weapons are not.  They are copy cat immitations of weapons having a semi automatic action with a military look.  So what.  The American people have a right to military weapons as evidenced by the number of .308 Win, .223 Rem, and the grand dad 30-06 Springfield.  I told our Congressmen that rather than outlaw questionable weapons, they should focus on the perpetrators and their punishment.

I don't even think socialism anymore or Communism ,the way these Clowns act it looks more like Monarchy.
They really think they are so above  us ,the unwashed masses.
And its like they don't even work anymore ,when they do all they seem to get done is More Taxes, how to Tax , or some new Ban on something .
Think about it ,its all that comes out of that place besides how wonderful they are.
But there is some hope starting to show ,and a lot more States are just a sick of it as we are .
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=67229
Look at the date ,this isn't old news.
Montana ,Ark. ,Nev ,NM ,Colo , Id , are  doing the same thing ,Montana was the first to start this.
From what i heard on Fox late night ,these states joined the Union after the Civil was with something like a contract , That they would be given the rights laid out in the Constitution ,and the Bill of rights ,and able to enforce the 13 Amendment.
Native Americans are saying the same thing , The Dakota Sioux told the Feds from their Nation , that the right to keep and bear arms was written in the treaty they signed.
Or they would have never surrendered , Any change in the Government in Washington is not the ones they made the peace with ,and any gun Ban or confiscation is a violation of that treaty ,and a state of War will exist between them and Washington once again.
One Okla. Senator said that the Federal Government is beginning to act like they think they are Gods or something ,And our Voices or rights don't matter.
And that LEOs in his state own personal Firearms ,and he didn't think his state residents are going to give up that easily.
Texas in most parts is feeling the same , And if Texas is in it also ,and they will when you start taking guns ,the Midwest has sea ports.
This isn't just people talking ,this is States talking now ,and i fear the Feds will still try it.
In the book The Second American Civil War ,Montana sent the heads of Federals back to Washington and placed them on the steps of Congress.
In this time i Command ,That you take the Secular to Jerusalem .

I strongly believe Alaska should implement the same resolution in our State House.  Think I'll take my own advice and send it on to our legislators.  At least, it is an attempt to limit federal control over States rights and on a local level.  Nothing may come from it, but one never knows until it is tried.

What i don't understand ,is why LE has to act like they are para military , anymore they are dressed like it ,and armed like it , Its like that press photo where the guy wanted to get back in his house and get some shoes, from  that flood thats been in the News . LE pulled their side arms ,pointed at him and told him that a Strike Team has said it was to dangerous ,Women freaked and ran screaming ,thinking the Cops were going to shoot their Brother in cold blood .
A Strike team ? what is that ? and why do you feel you need to call it that  Why not just Damage assessment Team ?
Right now People are stressed ,they are afraid ,politics ,Gas ,what kind of Country did we leave our kids ,and every word out of the Mouth of Congress is TAX ,or BAN.
LE is Stressed , some older Officers don't know why they want them  to do this stuff , the young ones are looking for trouble.
They are running around in their BDUs ,black ,sneaking here and there with an MP5 , For whatever reason, in buildings or the woods and then wave that in someones face ,and if they have had enough and didnt do anything , their will be a fight . Then say ,the man or someone else gets shot ,and what if it was a kid or an old man ,a bullet proof vest isn't going to help you ,and this isn't going to be a Ruby Ridge.
Then we will see Bush and Congress go insane , and this will repeat itself agian then spread like a wild fire .
People don't trust their Government anymore ,and a gun ban or confiscation will be a bad thing to try if it turned ugly like this ,and it could.
Ive been expecting this any day now , a swat team has never had this happen before that i know of.
Even pointing a gun at someone ,like in the story i told i saw on the News ,that alone could start some bad stuff.

In this time i Command ,That you take the Secular to Jerusalem .

The only way to "take back" our Gov't is by huge number s of people actively participating and raising a ruckus about their interests. In our case we've been virtually silent for decades as far as responsible gun ownership and our rights go. I'm done with it. NRA/GOA/JFPOF/etc do a good job, but we need our elected officials to realize there are real VOTING constituents behind those organizations, that there are lots of dissatisfied people with the interest and ability to alter the course of things. We need to be loud and consistent in our message. We need NUMBERS, lots and lots of NUMBERS. Huge numbers of emails, phone calls, letters and visits to the officials. We need to become a much bigger pain in their rear than the other side. We may not have George Soros's billions, but we have one heck of a lot more votes than George.

Lets look at the big picture. We don't need to get caught up in the minutiae- hunters vs.trap shooters vs.action pistol types vs. east coast vs. west coast. It's just another form of class warfare, pitting one sub group against another.  We HAVE to work together or we're cooked.

We HAVE to work together or we're cooked.

From the rhetoric I read on other boards, and sometimes even this board, I wonder if trying to get us to work together is not like trying to herd cats.
Dang near impossible.

Very true Alan, but if we don't try we sink. This is my 3rd time trying to get this to fly, the idea of working together. We'll never get all the gun owners active, but if we can get 10% thats something like 15-30 million people. That my friend is a very substantial voting block. Even 3 million (NRA members) would be a huge response if they all DID SOMETHING!!! Instead we sit around and moan about how bad it's getting an the blame NRA/GOA when nothing good gets passed. It's no one's fault but our own.

Hit 2 or 3 other websites and spread the word about this stuff. Link to www.stopguncontrol.com and let them know there are easy to use email links available there. Teach them how simple it is to make a phone call and lodge their opinion on legislation. We CAN do this. It just takes time and patience.

I thought that we as gun owners were sunk also ,and we never would Bunch together , To many people wanting to be the next Patton ,But i am not so sure lately .
All it would take is one state ,and i know of 4 right now making noises about doing just that . The deal is ,gun rights may start it ,but don't go out there shouting about your guns . Make it the last staw in the Abuse of all our rights , and the Constitution ,then instead of a pack of Bubbas ,you look like Credible Patriots.
And any heavy handed BS the Government pulls ,will not be Looked on well by the rest of the World and Americans.
And their is a group ,that will stick together ,and they have leaders in place right now and have told Congress they are not going to put up with it at all.
The Combined Nations of the American Indians . Four of the largest ones have said in a signed letter a year ago ,The treaty's we signed as a condition of surrender stated that we would be granted all rights under the Constitution and Bill of Rights . And on that treaty our biggest fear was the right to bear arms , we didn't not know about any of the rest of the Amendments ,but we knew about that one. If any gun control ,Bans ,Confiscation occurs ,the treaty is null and void and a state of war exist between us again. Last Summer they showed their teeth ,in a dispute with them and the DOT about Trucks on the roads crossing their Nations . They shut down 2 major hwys.
An emergency session of SCOTUS ruled that they were within their rights ,so DOT backed off.

Hum….when the last time that a pack of Democrats were legislatively concerned about stopping international terrorism and protecting US citizens?  How about never!

Can you say, “an extension of hate crime legislation with hate potentially being construed as any beliefs contrary to the ruling Democratic Party”!

Here are the links to the senate (S.1959) and house (H.R.1955) versions of how they intend to control our lives should these bills be passed.  Oh yeah, I don’t any of the sponsors or co-sponsors are considered anything but “liberal” meaning anti-2nd Amendment.

Seems the Library of Congress links may not function correctly so here are the Government Printing Office links to both bills:

phalanx,

It scares me to the think of a society in which only the police and military are allowed to own guns. I don't think liberals - who claim to value personal freedom - have thought through the implications of a gun ban.

IMO most LEOs are brave and noble people. I have known many personally over the years, and I have a lot of respect for them. But they have become insular, and I feel that many  are out of touch with "civilians."

As a para military group, they have become faceless. As society becomes more violent, more paramilitary, police respond in kind.

Many of their contacts with the average person are hostile. Some normally gentile, middle class housewife in a SUV is cussing you out for giving her a ticket. Cops feel misunderstood, unappreciated, and they are angry. And I can understand that.

But it would be dangerous to relegate power to one segment of society, such as the police. I won't bore you with details of happens historically in countries where only the police and military are the only ones allowed to own guns.
