Gun carts for transporting your long guns

One other thing you wil need is a way to transport your rifle and shotgun from stage to stage.  Most matches require that these be carried in the vertical position, barrels to the sky.  
I've seen everything from a little red wagon to fancy ones that are custom made.  
They should carry the guns safely, be of a size such that you can carry it your car/truck and not weigh a ton.
Many break down into components so it is easier to load and unload from the car.  
Most have a box to carry ammo and the like.
There are commerical ones on the market as well as several kits.  Put "cowboy gun carts" in GOOGLE and you can see for yourself.

I've been working on my own gun cart.  Looked at about a million pictures of them on the web and decided that I could build one myself.
Got the wheels from Northern Tools--16 inches and will do a good job of getting over the rough terrain.  
Wood was interesting.  Don't have the funds to go with an expensive hard wood so good old pine was used.  But, and here's the nice part, Home Depot has 3/4x12x36 inch shelving that is nicely sanded.  Comes from Brazile.  It is made of glued up narrow boards, but it wasn't a problem in the looks department.

The Winchester, Remington, Peters, ect. wooden boxes from wally-mart work really well for your ammo box on your gun cart.   Something to consider while designing your guncart, is to make it sturdy enough that you can sit on it, some of us old folks appreciate a rest every once in a while, and most cowboy ranges dont have benches.  If your cart is well designed, you can eliminate the need or want for a chair.

I am Brand New to SASS (badge #48481).  I had a good deal of equipment to buy, and I am still working on obtaining it all.  While I was waiting for newly purchased guns to clear the 10 day waitin period I decided to build my own gun cart.

 I am not a wood working person at all!!  I had some wood left over from a recent construction project, and I used it....all pine.  I had a bunch of the hardware like hinges and screws, a hasp, and misc nuts and bolts that had accumulated over the years.  I used all of that material, and bought the 21 inch wheels from Northern Tools.  I did all the cuttin, the routin, the stainin, the screwin, myself.

I HAD THE BEST TIME BUILDIN THAT THING!!!  The finished product came out just fine, cost me next to nothin...other than the wheels, to put together, and  I saved a little money in the process.  If you are new to this sport, or you just want a new gun cart I recommend considering the do-it-yourself method.

Greetings Pecos,
Guess there is someone with a SASS number higher than mine.  Welcome.  I, too, had fun building mine.  Had a month from my first taste of CAS till this week to get it all done and proud to say I was successful.

After today wil need to get some work done on my guns.  RV's need to be slicked up but that can wait depending on $$.  The Marlin:  the same, but I need to get the Win 97 modified, like right now.  From some posts on the SASS Wire I will be looking at a Dead Mule for the stock, a recoil pad, cutting the stock down so it will fit me and reaming out the forcing cone.  Each is supposed to lessen recoil and right now mine kicks like a mule.  Oh, yes, my stance is all wrong too.  Hoping to get my wife involved but one shot with the 97 and that will be it.
