45/410 Handi
« on: June 21, 2008, 05:20:05 PM »
has anyone tried the 460 S&W in the 45/410? The loaded round chambers and ejects easily. I bought a 5 barrel set which included this  barrel. I checked on the pressures and the 204 Ruger has about the same amount of Psi as the 460 .My handi is NT27xxxx  vintage (2003 mfg) Any Help would be greatly appreciated. ;D

I wouldn't advise doing that, the 45/410 barrel is 1137 mild steel, not the 4140 alloy of the the 204 and other centerfire rifle barrels, that could be very unhealthy for the shooter even on an SB2 frame. If you want to shoot 460S&W, get a 45 Colt carbine barrel fitted to that frame and rechamber it.  ;)

I've had the same thought on the 460 brass, but using mild handloads.  Just not to many mild loads listed that I've found.  Plus, the 45 colt has plenty of snort if you step it up with heavier loads.  Still have to scope mine to see what the accuracy really is, new glasses didn't really help on seeing both sights. :-\   DP.
