Since when does McCain rate as the same kind of "Liberal" as Obama? Obama has been assessed by an "independent focus group as the most liberal Senator in the Senate (even more so than Kerry). Is McCain for "National Health Care", which will finish "breaking the bank"; want to repeal "Conceal Carry" laws; enact "windfall profit" taxes so we can have gas "rationing" and extend benefits to the welfare programs (it's called "socialism" folks)? Does McCain want to pull our troops out of Iraq "unconditionally?" I think many of you have confused all "Conservatives" to be "Evangelical Christian Conservatives" ("EVC" for short) and determined that those that are, are only not "Moderates", but are "Liberals" (I've never been accused of that before). Just how many EVC's are there in the republican party, 20% or less? How many are in the Libertarian Party with no national recognition and chance in a national election? I do truly believe that McCain is a "Rockefeller Republican" who thinks he is a "Teddy Roosevelt" (Bull Moose Party rep.) and a "Maverick". McCain has made powerful enemies of the "Conservative Base", particularly among "Social Conservatives"; however, he is no friend of the "Radical Liberal" and they know it. The DNC also know if they can divide McCain's support, as Clinton did in 92, whereas Obama has a chance to win. If Obama wins, we all lose and are diminished by a Congress who is waiting for a bigger "veto proof" majority and a President who will pass all the "hair brain" schemes they have been blocked from enacting by Moderates and Conservatives in Congress. If there is no difference between a "radical liberal", who embraces Markism, Black separatist theology, and "socialist" governmental programs for its people than a Rockefeller Republican (moderate at best), than I think we can be defined as more "extreme" as a group of voters and are more vulnerable to be "marginalize" by our own definition of what makes a "viable candidate". If this is the case, that we cannot "tolerate" anyone but our "own", than what many of you really are suggesting is a "revolution" by the "proletarian" class to overthrow the existing government and install your own "dictatorial" candidate that represents those of us who are "Social and Fiscal Conservatives", even if we are not in the majority. I don't think we are ready for another "Succession" to be followed by a "War of Urban Aggression" by both "Left Coasts". It's not an "all or nothing" situation with the "line draw in the sand" for your candidate (IMO), but it is an "impending crisis" with Obama becoming our President. Obama does not represent an "anti-Bush" vote, as he does to many Democrats; just as Barr does not represent an "anti-McCain vote. I agree with the "majority here", that a vote that does not support McCain is one less vote Democrats have to worry about against their candidate. Vote your conscience without "malice" and be glad we live in a free country where we can discuss such matters and vote as we like. "It may not be a great system, but it beats the H*** out of what ever is 2nd best", said one "patriot". As I remember, John Adams would not even speak to Jefferson until they we near the end of their lives (died within hours of each other) over political views. I think we all have much to agree upon and few things that we don't, and many of those we can "agree to disagree". One thing I think we can all agree on is the honor, particularly on this day, goes to our Men and Women in the Armed Forces who stand ready to sacrifice their all for our freedoms and our country! Here's too our all our Veterans and Service personnel who serve this "great country"! Happy 4th of July! Regards, Jager
