cabin, I disagree. What we need in my opinion, is for all registered voters to be informed of current issues and to vote!

Who do you trust to inform them?

Good point. My answer to this is certainly NOT the main stream media outlets. This really is one of the major issue we have politically in our country. The media has taken on the role of advocacy journalism. And since nearly every media outlet is run by left wing liberals, their advocacy is always for the liberal cause.

We cannot trust the media anymore. they are liars and nothing more then an extension of the liberal wing. The only way to combat this is with right wing advocacy journalism. Until this happens, the message will never get out.

I would expect, no mandate the educational occupation to update their methods of teaching our youth? Basically, school's haven't changed their methods of teaching since I was in grade school, over 50 years ago. They just want more tax monies to make life easier for teachers and have more time on their hands.
I see posts all the time on this website with more foul language because of no words in their vocabulary. Posted by self professed educated people?
IIRC, 80% of all tax money collected, goes to education?

Got this in an email, recently:

How many zeros in a billion?
This is too true to be funny.
Read the entire page!!

The next time you hear a politician use the
word 'billion' in a casual manner, think about
whether you want the 'politicians' spending
YOUR tax money.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend,
but one advertising agency did a good job of
putting that figure into some perspective in
one of it's releases.

A.
A billion seconds ago it was 1959.

B.
A billion minutes ago Jesus was alive.

C.
A billion hours ago our ancestors were
living in the Stone Age.

D.
A billion days ago no-one walked on the earth on two feet.

E.
A billion dollars ago was only
8 hours and 20 minutes,
at the rate our government
is spending it.

While this thought is still fresh in our brain...
let's take a look at New Orleans ..
It's amazing what you can learn with some simple division.

Louisiana Senator,
Mary Landrieu (D)
is presently asking Congress for
250 BILLION DOLLARS
to rebuild New Orleans . Interesting number...
what does it mean?

A.
Well... if you are one of the 484,674 residents of New Orleans
(every man, woman, and child)
you each get $516,528.

B.
Or... if you have one of the 188,251 homes in
New Orleans , your home gets $1,329,787.

C.
Or... if you are a family of four...
your family gets $2,066,012.

Where do you see a complaint about either side of the political spectrum?

And where do you see me make any comment towards "evil conservatives"?

I agree these folks are on the right. The problem is not the obvious "left" or "right" people. In these cases the viewer understands this. Its the hundreds of media outlets in every city in this country. I'm talking about local & national news papers and broadcast media. All overwhelming liberal bias in everything they do and report.

S.B.;
A little correction here..Although I agree with most of your post concerning the educational system, () and I also attended 1-12 over 50 years ago),
I must take a small exception to your statement that they haven't changed their teaching methods in all this time.
Have you seen how they "teach" reading..the basis for all learning. We were taught by phonics; read the letters, sound them out and proceed.
That way, when they approach a new word, they can master it in a short time.
Now, taking the "easy way out"..they "teach" by what they call "whole language". Whole language is basically, look at the whole word and GUESS at it !
Ifr you come reasonably close..that's fine! Do you remember that if we did a paper in science, math, history or even shop..we were scored on spelling &
punctuation ? Sadly; that is not so anymore !
  They are not allowed to teach values of any kind...other than global warming, gay rights or save the whales ! I could go on and on ..but what is the use;
we as a society, are losing our "couth"  and our cultural edge in an exponential way !
If you don't want the truth, don't ask me.  If you want something sugar coated...go eat a donut !  (anon)

OK to all you Bob Barr voters in a state that may be close on election day. I live in the Peoples Republic of Minnesota, John McCain has basically no chance of picking up our electoral votes. I will trade someone in a contested state a vote. I will register your protest vote for Bob Barr here and yopu can Register a vote for Mc Cain there. Who wants to make a deal?

This is what I was going to do.  Check the polls.  If it is close in Alabama, I will vote McCain.  If McCain looks like he is going to win by a comfortable margin, I will vote Barr.  I would be willing to trade votes.  If Barr can get enough protest votes in uncontested states or in states where Obama is a run-a-way like California, then someone might listen.  Like someone else said, it starts with local people, representatives, and senators going Libertarian to make someone stand up and listen.  I think everyone who votes should pass a basic government and history test before they can vote.  When our country was first started, only property owners could vote.  That is one reason for the western migration, to stake out a claim, to own property to vote.

  Billy;
I'm about in the same boat here in NY..big cities control, since they outnumber us by a hefty margin .
As much as the folks in rural areas greatly prefer the Republican or more correctly, the more conservative
candidates, numbers of voters takes it, (suburbs usually split).
So about 10% of the land rules 100% of the state land area in federal elections..

S.B. I would rather have a conservative gun lover like Bob Barr than McCain.  I would rather have McCain than Obama.  I want to send a message, but not help elect Obama.  This is the only way I see to send a message without electing Obama.  Just like some of the above posters have said, to trade votes.

What if he gets 10% of the vote.  Someone in the Republican party might start paying attention.  Like I said, I would vote for McCain because he is the lesser of two evils, if my state gets close.  Right now it is solid McCain.  So..... I might vote Libertarian as a protest, if I am sure McCain can win.  It is about electoral votes for president, not popular vote.

Remember Ross Perot? He lost the election for Bush 1 in 92 which allowed Clinton and his liberal ways to run this country for 8 years.

I don't think anyone is stupid for voting for Barr. I like Barr myself and if I thought he had a chance to compete, I would vote for him over McCain in nano second. I actually hate McCain but just hate him less then Obama. I'm petrified of what Obama and both houses of congress run by liberals will do to this country. So for this, I will force my self to vote for McCain.

I hate what has happened to our country. The liberal politicians and their friends in the liberal media have conspired to destroy what use to be an overwhelmingly conservative political landscape.

I get the point about Barr maybe getting 10% and the message that would send. Well, Ross Perot if I remember got 10ish % and it did nothing to change anything. Many liberals blame Nader for Gore loosing the election in 200o to Bush. the math proves that Nader did do this. I would hate for Barr's only contribution to this election cycle to be equal to Nader or Perot. We need Barr back in congress (house or sentate). He has a much better chance of winning a house seat back were he can do a lot more good.

Obama in the white house will be a disaster! We may not have another chance because he and congress and the liberal media will drive this country so far to the left we ain't never gonna have a chance of bringing it back.....

The Bob Barr candidacy is the NRA's payback to McCain for the McCain/Feingold bill.

Bob Barr was once on the NRA Board of Directors.

,...makes me proud of the NRA,... I didn't realize that they were that motivated.

Now get this, if Obama get the presidentcy Blagojevich

How you figure that..?  IG and me should vote Barr, since the state is going Obama why should we waste a vote on McCain when we can send a real message.

We're in a system where majority wins,. arem't we? Where do you come from, that's the way I was taught? Please reread the previous post pertaining to thiis with Perot Nader and a few others.

S.B. Many presidents have won without winning the majority of popular vote.  It is the Electoral votes that win the presidency.  Many of the early presidents won without the majority of popular vote, Lincoln, Jefferson.  When Teddy Roosevelt ran on the Bull Moose party, a Democrat won the election with only about 40% of the popular vote, but he won the electoral votes.  Roosevelt split the Republican parties vote, because they nominated someone else, so Roosevelt ran on the Bull Moose party.  Bush jr. of late won without winning the majority of the popular vote.  Clinton won without the majority of the popular vote.   If a state is solid Obama, vote Libertarian.  If a state is solid McCain vote Libertarian.  If a state is a toss-up, vote McCain.  Simple math, electoral votes, not popular votes. Barr can send a message without causing McCain to loose.

Thanks for the history lesson but, what message would Barr be sending and to who, if he splits the Republicann vote? I can't decide if some of you are secret Obama supporters or just openly the devil's advocates, either way the Republican nominee will loose (your way)? And if it's the first choice, you win?

S.B. you still don't get it.  Electoral votes get the presidency.  If for instance California goes Obama.  Say Obama is up by 60% in the polls day before the election.  He gets all of California's electoral votes if McCain has 40% or 20% with 20% going Barr.  Doesn't matter, he still gets the state.  I'm saying especially in states Obama is up by a large majority, vote for Barr.  Republicans may take note then, and secure their conservative base next time around.  McCain doesn't secure it.  He offends the Christian right, and doesn't make gun owners happy either.  But, he is better than Obama.  Like I said if my state is way ahead in the polls one way or the other, I will probably vote Barr.  If it is close I will vote McCain to help him win over Obama.  I think this is what a lot of others here are saying also.  The McCain-Finegold bill restricted the NRA and the Christian Coalition from supporting candidates.  These two were probably the only two outlets many of us have to sway opinions of congress and a presidential candidate.

SB I'm nither , I don't see enough difference in the parties anymore . It is all about control , some what like seeing who will captain a sinking ship ! I want change a return to where laws are passed to strengthen America not on the issue of how many voters will go our way if we give them ...... . I want to see the wars we fight have a clear victory PERIOD ! our troops deserve no less ! I hope that is the message that will be sent if we leave the 2 cluster @&%$#$%^ parties we support today !
If change is not in the ballot box it will come out of the ammo box , look around at the killings in our cities the numbers are higher than in the war , look at the destruction in our cities some look like a war zone . I hate to break it to ya but the other side ( the ones that want to take over America or destory it ) have been working out of the Ammo box since the 1960's ,
There may be little time left to bring change with a vote !
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

I was reviewing some history from the 60's until the present.  Reagan was the only bright spot.  Without him the Soviet Union wouldn't have fell, and we wouldn't have a more modern military, and he also unleased the people for economic growth.  He did have a dem congress and couldn't get all he wanted.  Had to compromise on immigration.  Gasoline averaged $1.82 a gallon when he took office an was down to $1.16 when he left.  Unemployment was 10% when he took office and was down to 6% when he left.  We need another Reagan.  He believed in America.  He fought communism on all fronts, Central and South America, Africa, among other places.  Introduced capitalism in many areas.

Also, in the 60's, the communists and liberals saw through protests they weren't going to change America that way, so they got into journalism and education.  Twist and distort the news toward socialism and liberalism.  Dum down the education system, and teach liberalism and socialism in the public schools.  You see what we have today.  Reagan wanted to get rid of the department of Education and Energy and turn education over to the states.  Wanted the free market to solve the energy problem.  I work in the energy field.  Our hands are tied by the feds through extreme environmentalism, regulations, etc.  I have an encyclopedia of federal regulations in my office, several books, small print, and 3' wide.  Most of it is common sense, but it does tie your hands through endless paperwork to do your job.

The Republican party of Reagan included the Libertarians, among other conservatives etc.  They are today giving in to the endless attacks from the left.  McCain is trying to go middle ground.  But this doesn't have any moral compass or convictions.
