I assume you're tried adjusting the rear sight? They are usually adjustable via a sliding device to alter the elevation of the rear sight to make the rifle hit where it's aimed. If not replacing the front sight with one of the corrct height is the way to go. With the rear sight in it's lowest elevation calculate the top of the rear blades distance from the center of the bore(height from bottom barrel to top of sight minus 1/2 the barrel diameter). The front sights height is 1/2 the diameter of the barrel at the front sight dovetail minus the depth of the dovetail. If a ramp is present measure the distance from the bottom of the dovetail to the bottom of the barrel and subtract 1/2 the barrel diameter. Subtract the front sight dovetails height from the rear sights blade height will give the correct sight height for a front blade. It allows plenty of elevation adjustment to sight in for any reasonable distance.. The front sight blades shape is determined by the rear sight notch's shape. If a rounded notch is present a bead sight is correct. If the rear notch is square a partridge or squared front blade is the way to go.. I prefer partrigdge sights unless a receiver or peep sight is in the cards then the bead seems better to me..
