#1 : I dont have it anymore but it was a Savage 99f in 300 sav. with a weaver 1.5x5 scope in weaver flip mounts, sold it to a good friend who just had to have it, since I have been having a love affair with a rem. model 7 in 7mm08.

There are heaps of good calibers for deer between .243 an 3006,all of them get the job done when used right.My own fav,s are .308 and 6.5x55.
The 25-06 is the current hot shot where I live.I built up a 96 mauser in
6.5x55,resently so I have that wonderfull slick action great woodwork and
one of the worlds best light game rounds.Of course I also have a lot of time for the.270 and 30-06 as alround great rounds.Then there is the 7mm
08,7x57,257R,30-30,7mmREM,7X64,303.Hey I could go on all day.

My most favorite is the one I'm hunting with currently.
Remington 660 308 with Redfield 3X9 scope.
Next was a 740 Remington 30-06 that I used for years and had to sell about 13 yrs ago when I got a divorce. That gun was heavy but we had some good times together. I didn't know how attached I was to the gun until the guy came and took it home with him.

I use "THE" classic eastern whitetail deer rifle/cartridge... a 1953 Savage Model 99 "EG" in .300 Savage caliber topped by a Bushnell 3x-9x variable scope. And I love it! :grin:

Aynthing in .41RemMag. My first hunting handgun was a S/W 657. Killed my first and best handgun deer with it back in 1991. Currently I use mostly a 14 inch BullBerry Contender in .41RemMag for deer but I do have 9 others in .41RemMag and three .41 wildcats that I can choose from. :grin:

My favourite rifle (so far) has been the Remington 742. Mine were in 30-06 and 6mm Remington. Other rifles I've liked are the BLR and Remington 760.

My favourite deer cartridge has been the .303 British, but the .358 Winchester and 30-06 are top notch as well.

.416 Rigby!!! Or the venerable .50 Barret. (HA) I love my Parker Hale Sporter magnum/ mauser action 30.06. Belonged to dad and now me. I also liked my department issued tactical Remington 700 short action sniper rifle. Heavy barrel/McMillan stock/leupold mk4 with target turrets. Sweet! Just too heavy to lug into a tree stand. My favorite round is actually the 300 win-mag I'd love a Remington Sendero chambered in that round.

35 rem t/c contender, 12 inch with a muzzle tamer and a bushnell trophy 2-6 scope. Indiana won't let me use a rifle so a pistol in a rifle caliber will have to do. Plus, I'm lazy and the contender is a whole lot easier to pack.

I like using my side hammer 50 cal muzzleloader the best. I also like 7X30 contender, 30.06 in auto or bolt, 35 whelan mauser, or the last new rifle I got.

Over the many years of my life I confess to being an un faithful lover of many guns. In 50 years of buying and using guns I have only sold one, so when I go to the gun safes in my basement I am reminded of the great times that each of my love ones has provided me with.

The list is long as well as the memories but one gun has accounted for more deer than the others. It is not the most expensive or the pretties nor does it wear a great scope and it shoots groups that a barely acceptable but when I travel to some place new and I want to be sure to have a chance at a kill I admit to going to an old Ruger, 30 06 that wears a Weaver K-4 fixed scope and is a deer killing machine.
