Mag-spark 209 nipple in sidelock and Blackhorn 209?
« on: July 01, 2008, 06:43:12 PM »
Has anyone used a sidelock rifle with the Mag-Spark 209 nipple made by Hubbard's Outdoors and the Blackhorn 209 powder?  If so, does it light everytime?  I contacted western powders and they said they hadn't done any testing with it, but they heard that it was working.  Blackhorn 209 sure seems like a good clean powder to use and if it'll work in my t/c hawken, them I'm going to get a Mag-spark nipple if hubbard's is ever going to make them again.

Thanks,

Clayton

I just used blackhorn209 in my TC 54 cal Hawken with 50 and 60 grains of powder and 230 grain roundballs with the mag-spark nipple and it shoots great!  The gun fired everytime and on time.  Anyone looking to use this powder with a sidelock should get the mag-spark 209 nipple.  Hubbard's is making them again.

Maybe I should post this in the traditional forum??
