Why do these fly straighter and penetrate better than WFNs? I'm always hearing Keith SWCs and LFN whoop WFNs in these categories because even though the WFN creates the big wound channel it is not as stable. So why then is an even bigger meplat more stable? I read the press on the Penn bore ride design but have not really heard a satisfactory explanation of this phenomenon.

I'm really curious as to how stable they are (accuracy) in flight, as well as their penetrating capabilities.  Of course, I know they'll deliver a heck of a wound channel, as far as diameter is concerned.  But will they fully penetrate a mature black bear, for example, at normal shooting angles?

Thanks for the warning.  I won't even bother ordering from them after hearing that.

I attempted to purchase some of the PENN THUNDERHEAD bullets in August of 2007.  Finally in June of 2008 I cancelled the order.  I was told in late December of 2007 that the order would go out "next week."  Well months later I gave up.

During my emails with PENN BULLET Co.  I was told that they did not have a scheduled run of the THUNDERHEADS in the plans for the near future.  At that point I cancelled that portion of the order.  They did ship the other portion of the order but what was shipped was not what I had ordered.

Overall I was very displeased with the service of PENN BULLET Co.

When the "greatest thing since sliced bread" or whatever their marketing blurb says has no production for a year or more and none planned it begins to look as if these things don't really even exist.

They are a local company here (just north of Pittsburgh).  I have actually seen and handled these bullets and I know of a few boxes available locally.  I just wanted to confirm their existence.  No I never shot them, If I ended up liking them I'd be screwed from the local (and now internet) rumors they aren't very timely with orders...I wish it were different cause I'd rather spend my money in support of a local.

About 4 yeas ago, I bought 200 of the .451 270 gr. Thunderheads and loaded them up for my FA M83 .454. I used H110 starting to max loads and all were CRAPPY!! Lots of leading and accuracy was poor. Maybe with a gas check, they would be allright. maybe for .45 Colt soft loads they might be allright. They were a bust for my FA revolver. I still have a few left. Might turn them into fishing weights. Gene

I bought some of their 44 bullets a number of years ago. They leaded badly, weren't accurate and when measured weren't what I'd call round. I'm hoping they improved since then but I nev er went back to them.

I contacted them with some questions a while back and never received a reply.  I went with Cast Performance.

Carried the PB Thunderheads in my 45 Colt for the last two years.  Started out with maximum H110 loads, but quickly determined that "I really don't care for that much recoil".  I settled for a load providing about 1100fps with the 270s.  I had no problem with accuracy and loved the loud slap as the bullet hit the cardboard backboard 50 yds away.  Unfortunately, I did not get a shot on any deer, so I cannot comment on field performance.

I've been using Penn Bullets for many years; hunting, pistol competitions and plinking.  I've always been impressed with their quality.  I have not ordered recently, but a friend commented about awaiting for his to arrive.  I'm still trying to get through my last order of 255gr SWC's and 200gr FN bullets.  I had a similar problem with delivery from National Bullet.  After nearly 9 months of NB having my money, they finally filled the order...wrong bullets, but at least I got from the money spent.

I have used several of their products and am very pleased with them.  I placed an order earlier this year and received the slugs within a week.

I went with Rim Rock Bullets as they are made in Ronan, MT which is just down the highway from me about 60 miles.  Very good bullets, and I have had no accuracy issues with them.  I use bullets Rim Rock Bullets for my .44 Magnum and Marlin Guide Gun 45-70 and I will be hunting exclusively with these this year.
