Actually, the stokes mortar comment was aimed at me.

I had forgotten that one of a set of pictures I posted had my WWII 81 mm stokes mortar in it. It's fuse fired and actually 75 mm now, but still falls outside acceptable limits here. If I mounted the tube on a civil war style carriage there would be no objection.

GBO takes a pretty conservative view on what's legal, in this case a post 1898 design. While I understand why they have the policy that they do, I obviously have a different view. That said, I try to go by the rules of the forum when I'm here, and you can't find a better source of cannon information on the web or a more helpful group of people.

I think the dislike of added fireballs is mostly a perceived image problem.

YMMV

I certainly apologize if I have jumped the gun here, but you don't mention in your post that any removal of posts took place, and it leaves it to the reader to discern whom you are addressing with your scoldings....

and considering I mentioned at my introduction to this board that I have been a pyrotechnician for over 30 years, added with the "very Dark Gray area " comment concerning the steel wool, and then following that up with a comment about gasoline, which I have never mentioned nor did I find it in any previous post on this thread, it left me to believe you were sensationalizing, instead of making some regularly scheduled warming type post....as you have stated....

I must just be a bit thin skinned...but taking things out of context is easy when the moderator has made edits or removals of posts, and then continues to make comments concerning the post removed.....

how is a new reader to know this removed or edited post ever existed, and why wouldn't they believe that it was aimed at what is in the thread instead of what is not ????

If steel wool trumps flaming 10 pound bowing balls, and concrete pop cans, then my concept  of safety slightly differs from yours

please explain...sparkling wool  with potential for singing the grass (VERY DARK GREY AREA)

Flaming Bowling Ball with potential for boring hole in your house and setting on fire = hoorah !

I must have a lot more to learn than I realized.....

but I certainly apologize if my rant was misdirected...........................Dross Drunk
Your efforts towards 100% safety are nearly impossible, and to assume you have achieved it, is the height of folly........

Again, the post that was deleted was MINE and the comment about gasoline was aimed at MY flaming bowling ball. I'm not upset about it, the deleted post clearly had a prohibited (here) mortar and the owner objects to gasoline fireballs. My bad!

The only thing aimed at you was the gray area comment about steel wool. Nothing to worry about either.

That said, it's a great board with great people and lots of good information and resources.

Enjoy!
