After reading through this entire thread a second time I realized that DD's comments were aimed at me....
I haven't been a member here that long, but it appears to me DD that you must be miffed that my name has the same initials..although mine had a bit more imagination.....
I have seen topics here on using a pound of bp in one anvil to launch another anvil, topics on firing golf balls or pop cans filled with cement, and you rarely make a negative comment, oh! and flaming bowling balls,as well as a previous topic where the member also mentioned using steel wool for firing blanks at night for an audience during reenactments , which is where I got the idea from actually, and nothing negative by you was posted there either, but you still manage to take shots at me regardless .
If this is like some new guy hazing thing then so be it,but if not, then just what is your problem.?. I didn't see where anyone even mentioned a stokes mortar, those usually have projectiles with fins, mounted with a tripod, and are classified as a military weapon.
I hardly think a small tuft of steel wool disintergrating upon firing, and flying straight up 15ft and back down again qualifies as anything close, nor does it reach into the Pyrotechnic world either, I have seen too many photos here with larger sparking created by unburnt BP flying out the end and catching fire than anything I have mentioned,or listed and I did pre qualify my posts with the mention of the soaking rain..the night before being a mitigating factor
and I also don't see a replica antique thundermug as being a new device......regardless the outer finish....
Giving a 57 Chevy a new paint job ,doesn't make it any less a classic..................
So as far as I'm concerned, I understand, and respect your authority and responsibility to this board and maintaining the rules, but why not start making them apply to everyone ,instead of ending any post I comment in with some negative directed at me, frankly I find it petty, and a bit UN even handed.....had you thought that it was such a bad idea maybe you should have chimed that in ,on the thread here that gave me the idea in the first place, and maybe I wouldn't have tried it....
I guess I understand a die hard old school-er wanting to guide a newbie, but your bordering on being overly critical to me personally ,and condescending, so maybe this isn't the best forum for me to be a part of....because I too am an old school-er,but the way I learned the game was "Play Rough- Play Hard- but Play Fair",,, and you seem to have forgotten the Fair part....
Life is just too short to have someone try to curb me like their dog,,,, just because they can.....
So to the rest of you Good Luck, and thanks for the spirited conversations, but I don't believe I have run a foul of this boards rules in any way,and to be constantly given DD's negative posts, and be redirected to the boards rules,as if I have violated them in some way is just getting old.....and as Elvis once said "when this ceases to be fun I will cease doing it"
