Savage Model 10 ML Accuracy Loads?
« on: July 05, 2008, 03:30:28 PM »
I am interested in accuracy loads at 100 yards. What combination of sabot, bullet, primer and powder has worked for you? Anyone shoot targets past 100 yards?

Thank You in advance.

Cheese, I found a load I use for deer. I am using the 195 gr. Precision Rifle duplex dead center over 42.0 gr. of IMR SR4759 and Winchester 209 primers. I get 1 inch groups at 100 yards and 1.5 to 2 inch groups at 150 yards.

Cheese; new to the board but i have a Savage. My best load is 43 gr. 5744, 250 gr Barnes MZ in a MMP HPH 24 and a Winchester 209. It will cloverleaf at 120 yds. Have not tried any farther but as soon as I get some more HPH 24 I will shoot at 167 yds. That is the distance from my house to the pond dam. The bad thing I have found with 5744 is that after 30 shots I have to replace vent liner. It is just the stock Savage liner. I don`t know how to post pics or I would show you my targets. Hope this is some help for you.

I use the same powder charge a blacklab with 250gr. TC shockwaves.  Very good results.

Should have been 43g 4759.   Sorry.  Fat fingers and horrible typing make for an interesting read.....

After spending a fair amount of money and a lot of time (I enjoyed every minute), I ended up shooting the load recommended by the factory - 42 grains 4759, 250 grain XTP, MMP short black sabot.  Along the way I have accumulated quite a collection of  bullets and sabots.

Muzzle loader season is a few days away. I will be using a home made 330 grain .458 hp bullet cast from a Lyman mold. I get 2.5 inches at 100 yards. It is charged with a maximim amount of AA5744. Deer seem to be hard to find, so.........
