I am not a reloader so was wondering if .360DW ammo is available and if so where.  Thanx in advance.

If it is available I don't know about it.  My first purchase after getting my .357 barrel was 100 Starline .360 DW cases.  Then the fun begins.

GBO Sponsor Reeds Ammo has Max ammo listed, you'd have to check with him to see if he has the DW ammo, click Graybeard Outdoors Home page in the news box for the sponsor list.  ;)

Not likely, there's quite a difference in the max and DW length 1.6" vs 1.4" and 1.3" for the mag, but some have said they can trim max brass just a little to make it work, but that doesn't help if you're using factory ammo. I have to trim DW brass .010" to fit in mine or it won't eject.

One more question Tim and I'll not bother you anymore, do you think the .357 with the hottest available factory loads would be a 100 yd. deer rifle.

From all the reports here (no personal experience) I'd say yes with the right bullet and shot placement. Carp's daughter Abby took her deer with the Cor-bon 180gr load at 109yds.  ;)

.357s are plenty of a deer getter , I've taken whitetails at 65+ yards with my 6" Ruger and my handie will out shoot it any day. I prefer 180 gr lead but the 158gr JSP rem bulk bullets work very well also.  All that being said my max is tied for first place on my favorite rifle list with my .45-70 handie.

Years ago when my job required responding to traffic accidents I trailed and finished off a number of deer that had been hit by cars.  Used a 38 Spl. with 158 grain lead bullets.  Always got the job done with little fuss.  I suspect the 357 will be capable if the bullet placement is proper.

I shoot DW out of mine with good results but I reload for it. This would be a good cal for Big Green to clean up but I suspect they will probly keep same manufacture and specs. Kurt

Do any of you guys use the Hornady XTPs and if so is the throat long enough to use the first crimping grove next to the base.  I have a box for my .357 but haven't gotten around to playing with it yet since I've been working on my hunting load for my .30/30.
