Actually no, the 223 necked up to 6mm would be a 6x45, blow the shoulder out and you have the 6mm TCU.

I'm running a 6x45mm 22" Pac-Nor barrel and am getting 3300fps with Benchmark and 55gr BK's and NBT's.

After reading that you are thinking of doing this on a bolt action, I thought you could take your 223 case and size it with a 256 Win. Mag sizing die, experiment with it until you got the OAL you were happy with then you would have your sample to chamber the barrel to.
A standard 256 reamer ( rifle style reamer ) should work , stopping at a point before the rim cut.
This should be a short rimless 25 that should be accurate and efficient, easy to make using unmodified dies and reamer, just a idea.                Jedman

Thats the route that I have started down , already have dies for the 256 from my 22 rem jet project , may have to have a reamer tweeked as the COL may end up being longer than the rim cut would allow .

That should be an easy fix to have the rim ground off to give it a strait profile , could run the reamer deeper than the 1.221" of the 256 Win Mag , maybe somewere from 1.500" to 1.625" .

Stimpy,

You certainly could tweek the reamer and make it longer as you said but with a bolt gun you would still have the portion of the head with the rim and extraction groove added to that 1.221 and your brass would be in the area of 1.290 .
I made a widcat last year on this same idea, I shortened a 303 British sizing die to the length that it measured about .420 at the bottom then sized a 30-30 casing with the shortened die and after trimming off the excess neck I ended up with a casing of 1.290.  I call it my 303 Ohio Boy, with 123 gr. Hornady spire points over 18.5 grs of WW 296 it does 2260 FPS and is real accurate.
Last hunting season between myself and a friend we took 2 whitetail bucks , 1 whitetail doe, a mule deer doe, and a antelope doe with it, all one shot kills with the average shot being about 100 yards.
If your main priority is accuracy as long as you get the chamber reamed inline with the bore, have near zero headspace, and find what bullet / powder it likes I have always ended up with a accurate wildcat and the smaller the powder charge - super efficient cartridges such as this are usually your favorites.                                  Jedman
