What is the proper way to break in a new T/C Encore barrel? Thanks

There have been tons of posts on this topic. I really have never seen any difference in "breaking in" and just shooting the thing. Other than keeping the barrel clean (but not putting all kinds of stuff down the barrel)almost every rifle/barrel I have had would shoot 1 1/2" or better out of the box, and after some adjusting etc... all shoot 1". But hold on . . . you will hear "the rest of the story" soon.

I agree with longwinters, Just shoot it and clean it good every 100 rds or so. KN

I agree with KN and Longwinters - I don't use any specific break in method and have never been disappointed with accuracy. Always able to take PDs out to 200 yds and more with the 223, 222, and 17 rem pistol barrels - that is plenty accurate for me.

clean the gun before shooting , then just shoot as you would any other gun.

I useally will break in my barrels this way, but these barrels haven't been encore barrels but I wouldn't think that it would be any different with a Encore barrel.
Clean the barrel before you shoot it. Hopps #9 will work.
Shoot a 5 shot group and clean it. (don't be in a big hurry shooting your groups) let the barrel cool a little between shots.
Do the 5 shot & clean method for say the first twenty rounds and then shoot a 10 shot group and clean in between the groups again let the barrel cool down some between each shot and each group. I will useally do this until I shoot 100 to 200 rounds through the barrel.
You might think about ordering a bore guide for the encore from Sinclair it don't cost much at all. This is the way I break in my barrels and it seems to work fine. I have a 308 that I broke in this way and it will shoot .5 to 1 inch groups at 100 yds. Hope this helped.

I agree with the other posters. I see no difference in just shooting the barrel verse using one of the so called breaking in procedures. I like to clean a new barrel when I get it to get any oil or gunk out of the bore.
