Handi stocks and forends
« on: July 09, 2008, 09:40:20 AM »
ok guys I have seen some of you with the nice mannlicher and schnabel foreends on your handi rifles, and I have heard talk about finding replacement stocks for them, but where the heck are you finding this stuff?  Come on give a new guy to the board some hints and tips.  Only thing I find for replacement is the advanced technology six position stock.  I know at one point I saw (or dreamed I saw ya never know at this age) an H&R rifle a guy had at the range with synthetic camo stocks on it.  What gives?  Where can I get the goodies?

Thanks

GoodOlBoy

Spend some time in the FAQs and Help sticky, most all of what you ask is in there, see the Retail Parts page, the camo stocks are H&Rs, they make two, a syn monte carlo and a wood pistol grip low comb, same as comes on the turkey shotgun. GBO sponsor GSI makes mannlicher schnable forend, they don't list them on their website, but they'll em if you ask Ed, sponsor's list is on the GBO home page, link is in the news box.  ;) All synthetic stocks are made by Choate Machine, t-hole stocks are made by Boyd's, but only available thru H&R, H&R makes all the rest of the stocks themselves, or did until Gardner shutdown, that may change. :-\

H&R Mannlicher, discontinued

syn monte carlo

wood camo

camo laminated t-hole, also available in cinnamon

cinnamon laminate straight stock, also available in camo laminate

Thanks for the update.  I had searched the forums, but when I visted Choate, Boyd, and even the H&R page afterwards I didn't find any listings.  Guess I will have to heat up the phone lines.

You won't find the Boyd's stocks anywhere but at H&R and occaisionally on ebay, Boyd's doesn't list them or sell them. Most all of H&R's stocks are listed on the 2007 Retail Parts Price list in the FAQs.

GoodOlBoy, welcome to GBO. do what Tim said above and also check in on the NEF/HR classifieds site here, there is all kinds of handi-rifle stuff for sale and trade over there.

I spoke with Boyd's yesterday (about another matter) and asked in passing if they sold any H&R lami stocks.  The C/S rep said they made them but they were only available thru H&R.  You won't find them listed on their parts list, but if you get thru to H&R customer service, they can provide part # & availability.   When I called H&R a couple of months ago, they had green lami stocks available, but the nutmeg lami (or cinnamon, if you will) as well as thumbholes were back ordered.   Could have been part of the problem with the S/S 45-70.   They would obviously like to sell a complete weapon, as opposed to parts.   This was all before THE RELOCATION, so I haven't had contact with the new operation.
Will that bow kill an elk?     Sure.....but arrows are much more effective.

A whole bunch of my questions at one pop!! Are LH thumbholes available? Quick: what is the scope on that straight grip cin. lam. stock and howis it mounted?  Is the 20 ga. Tamer only full choke/ will it fit a survivor? What length barrel do the mannlichers fit best? I'll call GSI on Monday.  Good 'ol Boy did the right thing and declared his "newness".  I walked [crawled ] in and just asked one dumb question after another and got referred to this and that forums and I couldn't even find FAQs . I STILL DON"T KNOW WHAT THE H---- A STICKY IS. Oh well ,still muddlin' through.   KODY

Stickys are called that because they're stuck at the top of a forum sort of like a post-it note, they only move if they're within a group of stickys and then chronologically by last post date, but always at the top of the forum.  ;)
