Veral do you know of anyone doing this?  How does it perform and what are they doing to make it work.

I'm not Veral, don't have a fraction of his knowledge or experience, but I messed around with paper patching in my .50 Encore. Best I ever got was a 4" group at 100 yards.
Not saying it can't be done, just that I couldn't get mine to shoot worth a dern with anything but Sabot rounds. You may hit on the right mix of bullet, paper and load.

Apparently the Pro hunter encore is a muzzle loader?  If so drop the paper patch idea.  Sabots maybe, but the caliber isn't overly large to start, so the reduction in caliber and weight with sabots may not be in your best interest so far as performance on game.

Well, thanks guys for the advice.

For the benefit of others, I've had very good success with a Harvester green crush rib sabot and a hard cast 44 mag bullet from a lyman 429421 mold from this 50 cal Encore Pro Hunter barrel.  Continuing to test.

It won't shoot them very well due to the QLA and barrel is deigned for Sabots only. A member sent a email to TC and they replied that was made for sabots only. The twist 1in28 may have a major factor too.

Many use standard cast bullets for use in sabots, but accuracy will be much easier to obtain with bullets having smooth sides, so the sabot has a better contact area.  I make them with a small bevel so they set down tightly in the sabot, with whatever weight the customer wants.  For best accuracy at maximum weight, the bullets bearing surface should not be longer than what the sabot pocket will cover.  When ordering a mold, I like to have the customer send a sample sabot that he wants to use and let me make the bullet to fill it, if he wants maximum weight.  If a lighter bullet is wanted I fit cut the bullet to settle down neatly into the sabot and at the weight desired.  Hard cast will give as good accuracy as the best jacketed bullets, with far better killing performance. (You'll probably find that jacketed are considerably more accurate than grooved cast bullets.)
