Went to a local auction yesterday. Arrived a bit late and just missed a 1905 Sprngfld bayo that sold for $30. Found some real heartbreakers. A '94 Swede carbine that had no metal damage and it's stock, sporterized!! It did have a receiver sight. The rifle only brought $60, and a 1903--- serial number 712. yeah,, that's right number 712, 1st year production or perhaps second as the serials were at about 30,000 the end of the second year.. The wood was from an A3 and was heavily sporterised. No alterations to the metal..and the barrel carried an -09- date. A rod bayo rifle with the barrel replaced as part of the change from 30-03 to 30-06?? Metal had been parkerised(green) from WWII I would guess but was correct and all there. Went for a little over $300 but I was unable to stick around and bid!!! I never found the main part of the stock but the handguard was there.. There was also a perfect stock for the '94 although it was walnut and probably from an earlier carb.. ARRRGGHHHHH!! There were a lot of bargains!!
