Marlin safety replacement pins I made w/pics
« on: July 13, 2008, 08:11:46 AM »
I made a couple safety replacement pins out of 304 stainless steel on a Lathe and Bridgeport for my 1895GS.
They turned out pretty good and work great.

A couple pics of the pins before I installed them. The pin on the right is standing on end to show the slot so to look like a screw when installed on the receiver (see very bottom pic).

Some before pics with the safety still intact on the rifle

The after pics with the replacement pins.

I like the udea vut have to remind you and others that deacctivating any safety device automatically confers a liability on the gunsmith.  I don't like it but it's true... Very nicely done..

Quite true but that just means the liability is yours.. Even if the safety alteration had no direct effect it will still be used as part of a liability or wrongfull death action.. against you, as you were the installer.. It's why trigger alterations are shunned by many smiths. Even if they did nothing wrong and regardless of the reason for the accident they will be in court should a bad thing happen..  Your modification looks very nice..and the safety is in reality irrelavent, still it is a safety device and you removed it.. Good luck..
