Bushnell Trophy hangun scope
« on: July 14, 2008, 06:17:08 PM »
Will the Bushnell 2x6 x32 Trophy handgun scope hold up on a 12" Encore 44 Rem Magnum? I have heard good things about the Elite series but wans't sure about the Trophy series.

I suspect it would probably hold up to 44 Mag. recoil.

I had a Bushnell Trophy variable pistol scope that didn't hold up to 460 S&W Mag. recoil.  Bushnell wouldn't honor their warranty saying it had been "abused."  Since then I've switched to exclusively to Thompson/Center and Leupold handgun scopes.

I own 8 3200's that have been very satisfactory, however I have never owned a Trophy. I have several friends who have them on heavy kickers, to their complete satisfaction.
Grumulkin makes a good point, though. After returning a "waterproof" set of binoculars to Bushnell when they leaked water, and having them deny liability, I'd say if one of their products does fail, you're on your own. Their "Warranty" is a sham. For their lack of honor and integrity, they've lost this customer for life.

If I could afford it I would puyt lepoulds on every gun, but knowing that is not possible due to the cost factor I elected to use the Bushnell on most of my contender barrels.  I have never had a problem with them, have use them for taking several game animals, and they do fairly good on "play days" at the range.  For their cost, Bushnell is hard to beat!

I have the trophy 2x6 on a 10" Contender 44 mag and a Super Redhawk 7.5" 44 mag and have not had any problems.  I started with the leupold 2 but like the variable on the Bushnell.

I've used and ABUSED them for years. So far I've never been able to break one not even the one that was on the S&W 629 Classic DX that fell from my shoulder holster onto the wood floor of a stand once and hit scope first. I thought sure it was done for or at least would need to be resighted but it did not and was still hitting right where it should. The fall had to be over 3'.

I have one that is on my S&W 460 Mag, before that, it was there it was on my S&W 500 Mag. I have over 3000 rounds of hard hitting rounds on that scope, and it is holding up very good. I also had one on my Ruger Super Redhawk in 454 Casull, and now it is on my buddies S&W 460 Mag. Both are holding up well.
So yes they will hold up to the 44 Mag on your Encore.  ;)

Jeesh...I'd think so after that torture test...Been seeing pretty good prices on used Bushnell Trophy handgun scopes on E-Bay recently...I've been trolling for used Leupolds but I notice the Bushnells that are floating by.

The only way to tell if they are going to hole up is to use them.  And use them I do.  ;D
