He said that he would be shooting mostly from the bench didn't he? If so, a "break open" action is akward, and taking it off your rifle rest to reload disturbs your concentration.

I have a Ruger #1 in 25-06 and love it. However, for the 45-70, I would much prefer a Sharps. Italian copies are OK but if possible spring for an Axtell, Shiloh, or C. Sharps - all made in the USA. If you take one of these to the range you will soon have a circle of admirers around you.

Oooooh ya, a U S made Sharps!

Even a #1 lover can like those!!

Just going to their web sites is kind of like going to a Cooper web site, lots and lots of eye candy.

Keep em coming!

I'll be among the admirers....wanted one my entire life, and may just fool everyone and live long enough to get one..... ;D

MAKE IT A RUGER #1!!!!!!!!!!!

Just brought my RUGER #1 - s home from the pawn shop on Monday.

Great shape for a "used" rifle.

45/70, so have already ordered the brass, dies, bullet mold, gas checks, lube/sizer die and top punch.

Need to get a better scope on it then should be good to go. YES!

Love those #1s!

Keep em coming!
