Ultra Forend Question
« on: July 18, 2008, 05:36:47 AM »
I have an Ultra Varmint rifle in 243 with 24" bull barrel with the cinnamon laminate stock and forend.  I am considering getting a 44Mag barrel for it.  Will I need a new forend to fit the 44Mag barrel?  If so, does anyone know a cost and part number?

Thanks,

John

No, all forend channels are the same except for the 10ga and 12ga USH.

Tim:

Is an Ultra forend available to fit the 44Mag?  In case, I decide I want a separate for each barrel.

Thanks,

John

It takes the same forend that's on your 243 Ultra, just add the forend to your barrel order. Most stocks are listed on the Retail Parts Price list page in the FAQs, be sure to specify that you want the checkered forend on your order if that's what you want, I think the cinn lam forend on the list is uncheckered, but if you list  the description on the order form as forend, cinnamon laminated, checkered, they shouldn't have a problem. Don't send the forend with it since you're ordering one. I order complete stock sets when I order barrels, I just send the frame in. You could call and ask them what the forend part number is, hopefully the new CS will know. ;)

Tim:

One more question and I'll quit bothering you.

Can the 44Mag barrel be ordered without open sights?  I plan to install a scope and would prefer a scope mount and not open sights.

Thanks,

John

You can have them substitute the scope rail for sights, but they don't reduce the price, but you can add a scope rail and hammer extension to the order for $19. The sights cost about $50 to add to a barrel that doesn't come with sights, so you can see the value of just adding the scope rail. ;)
