i just picked up an used  45 colt/45 acp recently,and today was my first day at the range
with it. the colt cylinder did just fine considering this is my first time shooting this ruger,
the only problem was the base pin kept on moving forward after a couple of shots.
at one point it was out far enough to prevent it from cocking.
i will probably just get a belt mountain pin,but do you guys feel it might be worthwhile to contact ruger. dan

I had the same problem with really hot loads, it seems that is a problem with the factory base pin. I think that upgrade should be the answer. I just dont shoot those loads anymore. No need.

I had the same problem with my sbh last year. I put in a belt mt pin, and the problem was solved. Ruger's customer service is great, but I sure wouldn't want to be without my gun for 6 weeks during the summer.

theyd send you another base pin but im sure that one would be small too. A belt mountain pin isnt expensive and would take care of the problem and even tighten your gun up a tad

Dan, good for you on another new gun!!!  That is a simple fix, pick up the belt mountain and go shooting again!  A word about the Belt Mountain pins.  Get the stock replacement.  That will fit tight.  If you order an oversize, you will have to fit it and sometimes that is not fun at all.  44 Man
