What do you do with an Airsoft gun?

I have looked at Airsoft guns, but don't get it. Am I missing something? It looks like if you shoot outdoors you just leave plastic balls everywhere. Are they biodegradable? Not trying to be smart here, I just haven't figured out what to do with one. ???

The neighborhood kids put on goggles and shoot each other with them, not sure if that is right, kinda like paint ball, painful but no paint. I use mine to keep the cats off the kitchen counter, very effective.

Thanks. Doesn't that leave a lot of plastic balls lying around? I love high quality air rifles like my Beeman R7, but I can actually keep the squirrel population somewhat under control.

Very little use, if any, except for enjoyment of shooting and maybe shooting at some other kids (or cats)
Not really effective for any type of varmint control or anything

What do you do with them?...if you are the bride groom (like my son was within the last two weeks) you purchase a bunch of them and have them personally stenciled for all the groomsmen plus the Father & Father-in-Law.


Mine shoots pretty hard and is suprisingly accurate. I would guess the velocity to be in the 250fps range. There was a hell of a gun battle going on before the wedding during the dressing & picture taking and I was quite amused that all the above mentioned stayed armed through the wedding and reception. These fit very well in the inner coat pocket of a Tux ;D Everyone was (chandilistic) enough considering all the guest but the closer friends were suprised and delighted when they found out that we were all armed ;D ;D The Brides Maids felt that they had been cheated as they recieved the fancier cosmetics instead of the airsoft's ;D ;D ;D
Those boys would shoot those guns like they held seventy rounds instead of seven and it was a good time (for me & the brides father) to stay clear as the overall noise of the airsoft battle was impressive.
In the end, these did make for good memento gifts and are great around the house for keeping the sight picture & trigger control up to par.

My cousin's kids were shooting these things all over the place at a recent family get-together in upstate New York. Bright green plastic like balls were everywhere, especially where the guns were reloaded from the bottle which holds 10,000 of the little balls. I asked about layering the place with what appeared to be plastic balls and was told not to worry because "they are bio-degradable".

I picked a few up and brought them home.  I put 2 in a glass of water, 2 on my front lawn and 2 outside near my office. A month later and the littler balls are still bright green, as hard as ever and show no sign of degrading at all. I'll bet that the homeowner where a few thousand of these balls are littered all about is real happy with this new airsoft stuff. ::)

they sell  Biodegradable ammo for airsoft.  http://www.pyramydair.com/airsoft-BBs/ i have a lot of guns in airsoft and for me it's the only leadl way to have a full auto MP5,M4,ak or TMP, also it fun .

there fun ;D ;D i love the full auto from my mp5k and i used to play games with them in the woods with my friends. Some of us dress like us army and the others were dress like terrorist. great fun was had by all.

They are just like paintball guns. But They don't splatter. And Wal-Mart and other places sell biodegradable ones. but all others are not biodegradable. They dont hurt anymore than a paintball gun. but other than that its pretty much just an alternative to paintball

I dont think i would want to be shot at by any 1 with 1 of these things , unless i had eye protection on looks like a good way to lose a eyeball

only a fool would not wear eye protection. it does not hurt unless your at point black range. I have taken full shots at 10 yards and it did not really hurt at all, it was like someone poking me.

I live across from a park with  6 ball diamonds. They sell popcorn, hot dogs and other stuff when the games are on. With all the spilled corn and other stuff the dumpducks {seagulls} crap all over my vehicles and hang around on my roof. Not anymore thanks to the auto airsoft guns

I keep the neighbors dogs out of my yard with the full auto from my M4 it shoots around 420 fps and is surprisingly accurate clip holds around 350 rounds.





Not sure if that helped the confusion, but damn it's a fun little toy.

that the hole point of airsoft guns, to have fun with guns that you can't own. How many people do you think have shot a full auto M4,M60 or AKM? with airsoft you can.

My brother used to try to get me to play with airsoft guns.  Him and his friends would go out in the woods and shoot the crap out of each other.  It seemed stupid to me.  Unless you manage to cause pain to the other person, they usually refuse to admit they were hit, so it just devolved into shooting each other in the face (goggles were worn) or back of the neck until someone surrendered cause they were tired of getting shot.  Maybe with the right people it'd be fun, but I prefer paintball.  At least you can win. 

You're right on the lil balls being all over the place.  I bet if you went to the spot in the woods where my brother used to play, the ground would still be full of them.  Towards the end it got to the point that if they ran out of ammo, they could always find 20-30 of the little things within arms reach.

Now they are very useful for non-lethal pest control.  All the stray cats and dogs in the area know to avoid my yard ;D  And for this purpose I don't shoot enough of them to notice any buildup of pellets.
