Gustavus fishing
« on: July 23, 2008, 08:11:40 AM »
I am thinking of going to Gustavus, Ak in August or Sept.  What are the fishing opportunities then, particularly for fresh water. ( I don't care much for boat fishing)  Also, what kinds of critters am I likely to encounter in the area?
Thanks.

Fred

I had to look that up.... never heard of Gustavas before.   :o

Anyways, being in southeast, there are lots of blacktail deer and black bears around.  always a chance of moose and brownies down there.. but not as much as the first two.  In august or september most salmon have made their way in the rivers, there will be some silvers left in saltwater though.  The river systems in Southeast aren't that large or accesible, broken up by the costal mountains and glaciers down there, so I don't know about any attractions for fishing in that specific area, that would be a localized question.

Sorry I could be of too much help, I live about 500 miles from there, kind of like me someone from Missouri triyng to tell how the fishing in colorado is  :)
