Unfortunately, it's true.  I be living it in Houston, 60 mi from Los Anchorage.  No global warming around these parts.  My wife is threatening to move back to Norway where they still have summer.  I've had a fire in the wood stove the past two mornings.  One of the radio stations declarerd a drought today when the sun appeared for the first time in days, we briefly hit 67 F and went for 18 hours without rain.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, we're having a great summer, but that doesn't mean that Algore's religion has anything to do with it.  It's normal to have a very comfortable, beautiful summer, here.

A couple of days ago, I was out kayaking on the Columbia River and I couldn't help noticing that the level of the river was lower than I had ever seen it--and I've only lived here for 61 years.  Now it occurred to me that if all the glaciers are melting, the river should be higher than usual.  Oh, I didn't mention that where I live on the Columbia is basically at sea level and of course the tide has everything to do with the level of the river at this time of year, but I've never seen the river this low before.  I spend a lot of time on the river at all levels of the tide and this was markedly lower than I have ever seen before.

In Fairbanks we have had nothing but rain, rain, rain.  I hate mowing grass when it is wet, but it never has a chance to dry out.  Been trying to stain my new deck all summer, but every time I get out the stain, it starts clouding up and rains.  Maybe next year.

Ironglow, I wish it was all about the libs smoking weed.  I think--no, I know Global Warming is agenda driven and that agenda is to control every aspect of our lives.  I believe the goal is to tax us into submission and fashion a liberal culture where we the people serve the government instead of it serving the people.

Algore and his flock will be the saviours of the world and will be adored and worshipped till the end of time.

Yup, I am totally sick of all those people just spouting the liberal agenda...  Liberal groups such as NOAA, NASA, and the Pentagon are just spouting their leftest agenda.  I for one will never trust scientists when it comes to questions of science! ::)

I totally missed that news story from a year ago!  Looks like only the people who believe the earth is 5,000 years old say that "global warming' doesn't exist.

I can be as selective in my choice of scientist as you.  I choose to believe those that tell me that 1.) Mars, Jupiter and Venus are warming as a result of increased solar activity, 2.) the Earth, being in close proximity to the aforementioned planets is warming also and 3.)That the increase in CO2 is the result of, not caused by the warming Earth.  I visited Glacier Bay National Park this summer and guess what; the glaciers are expanding, not retreating.
You should have said something; I didn't know I had struck a nerve.

Good one IG
Do a google search, and there are numerous articles, regarding "global warming".  Some for, some against.  Oddly enough those who espouse this, seem to be closely aligned to left wing political thinking. You are free to chose who you believe.
I don't think Einstein would be among the ranks of the global warming crowd.  There is too much credible evidence to the contrary.
In addition, Einstein was carefull about the company he kept, because of his experience with the nazi's. He recognized fascism when he saw it.

What is probable, is that global warming ''MIGHT'', be happening. But Al and the rest of the agenda people will never admit, is that it could very well be a natural event. This earth has gone thru many warming and ice age's. NONE of which, was man made. These guys, just see a way of making money, on people's fears.   gypsyman

I for one, was hoping that global warming was for real.  The latest evidence is that for the last 7, or 8 years, the earths climate has actually cooled.  It's interesting that the most ardent believers in man-caused global warming (Algore, Dakota, etc.)  just simply ignore evidence that doesn't comport with their religion.  I think they believe if they are successful in influencing certain life-style changes, no matter how incremental, or insignificant, they will be able to point to that and say, "look at what we did; we saved the world", when it becomes obvious that global warming has not lived up to their dire predictions.

Wdchuntr & Gypsyman;

Have you noticed that our side of the debate have ALWAYS been more fair and open minded about the subject than the Al Gore side ?
...Yet it is the liberals that have always claimed to be the ones that have a monopoly upon "fair & open minded".
We have regularly suggested that there could be numerous reasons why our planet endures climatic change; natural cycles, sun
spot activity, perhaps hysteria about warming in certain areas while ignoring cooling in other areas..We noted that the other planets  which
are adjacent to us in our solar system are experiencing climatic change that is obviously not connected to my smithing forge or your 4WD pickup.
We also noted that many scientists (a growing number) reject Algore's hypothesis.

Yet the Al Gore sycophants are so "closed minded" that they not only insist that it is human kind that causes any change, but more pointedly
Americans and the U.S. that is doing it ...and we must pay for all the world's "sins against Gaia".

It strikes me that the opposition are not so climate conscious as they are into "hate America and Americans".

For these libs who claim to be "open minded", there is no better proof that they are liars as well as being closed minded... :P ;D.

Let's face it, whether it is smoking, eating fast foods, driving an SUV, taxes on success, open fires for work or recreation, non-union workers,
hunting, gun-owners, dog owners, political correctness, free  speech, private golf or other clubs, snowmobiling, ATV riding,  home schooling,

communities, cutting a tree in your own back yard....plus hundreds of other areas......

Ironglow, you just hit the nail on the head!  I have always felt that the liberal mindset is that they feel they have somehow divinely been granted knowledge on a higher plane than that which is available to conservatives, knowledge that transcends mere human powers.  They don't even consider the possibility that they could be wrong.  Ben Stein has looked into the scholastic side of liberalism in his documentary "Expelled".

I thought I remember watching a documentary, stating something like, when Mt St. Helens blew, it expelled more pollution,CO2, dust,ash,etc.,etc., in a matter of a couple days, than what our country, since the industrial revelution, has spewed out, and will for the next 20 years combined. As far as the liberal mind set, just look at Rosey O'Donnel.(Don't do it with a weak stomach, something might just come back up!!) When Tom Selleck was on her show, he was willing to debate her on the gun issue. All she could do was rant, rave and shout, and not make a point. Most liberals are like that. I'm right, your wrong, and I don't care what the facts are!!
And by the way DokataElkSlayer, it wasn't what 'ol slick willie did with the cigar. It's what Monika did with her mouth, and the stain on her dress. I do believe that's called oral sex. (I had given up cigars just a couple years earlier, never look at a panatella with the same desire!) gypsyman

Ummm....I never said I believed in Global Warming.  I am smart enough to know that I don't have the education to dictate if it is true or not, but I tend to at least listen to the experts in the field in question.  What are your credentials which makes you more trustworthy than the scientists at NOAA?!

Normally Fairbanks is classified as ARID, we get little rain during the summer.  Almost all our rain comes in August.  Here it is July and we are having flooding everywhere.  The Salcha River is in flood stage, The Tanana is out of it's banks and flooding houses.  The Chena river is high.  I never realized I had a low spot in my back yard till now.  There is two feet of water back there.  It has been one wet year.
