The skies the limit, so take your pick.   These states have very long lists of upland bird species, of migratory and waterfowl species, of edible small game animals and of predators and varmints.    Add the hundreds of thousands of square miles of free public access lands, excellent warm and cold lake and stream water fishing, some of the very best big game hunting, endless camping and sightseeing places and I can assure you you will never want for something to do in the outdoors in any of these states.
Evolution at work. Over two million years ago the genus Homo had small cranial capacity and thick skin to protect them from their environment. One species has evolved into obese cranial fatheads with thin skin in comparison that whines about anything and everything as their shield against their environment. Meus

You named it, lots of open land and plenty of rabbits, squirrels, and upland birds and do not forget the big game...

Would love to hunt big game, but being as it's just me and a pickup, a lot of meat would go to waste.
I will not be disrespectful to an animal by killing it and then not using all of it.
I do look very forward to the wide open spaces and actually being able to see the stars again. Living where I do, I haven't seen stars in years
due to the light pollution.
