I have some money that is burning me!!

Does anybody use one and are you happy with it?
How fast and how accurate is it?

I have had a DPS3 for 6 months or so.
I love mine.
I see the downside of the Lyman is 30 minute warm up time.

i just leave mine plugged in all the time, no warmup then.

I guess having it on all the time would work fine if you use a voltage surge suppressor

I don't have the #3, I have the original and I think it's the greatest thing since bottled beer.  If I'm gonna do some reloading, I turn mine on and then I've usually got some last minute "stuff" to do or even the news to watch and when I'm ready to go, it's ready to go.

When I first got mine, I proofed it against my 10/10 everytime I set it up but soon found it was right on. So I stopped that. I Load a lot of ball powder and I find that sometimes when I set it at a particular weight it will persist in dropping 1/10th grain too much powder(it shows up on the read out). Normally, if I was loading groundhog ammo or hunting ammo, it wouldn't matter, but as this is target ammo, it makes me feel better to have it exact. So what I do is set the machine to drop a charge that is 1/10th grain less. When it comes up 1/10th short, I lightly tap the powder loading snout with a pencil and a few grains of powder drop out bringing the charge up to exact. Kinda like an electronic trickle charger, It's rare to have to do this but this is how I handle it when it does.

One maintenance hint that a nice lady at Lyman told me about: every so often, lift up the little plate that your powder pan sits on when you're weighing your powder and clean underneath it--the little silver circle thingy that your powder pan sits on.  And wipe down all your surfaces with a anti static cling cloth like you put in the dryer. Especially inside and out of the powder reservoir.

I don't leave mine on. I even unplug it when not in use.  With an Ohaus 10-10 sitting on the shelf gathering dust, it'd be hard for me to justify another one if it got zapped by lightning.

I've had mine for a few years, upgraded it with the DPS 3 kit last year, couldn't be happier! Here's a shootout of 3 popular digital dispensers, the Pact and Lyman have been upgraded since the comparo.

With the original DPS, per the manual, you MUST turn off the unit before unplugging.  If you let the unit run and the power goes down for one second, the electronics will be fryed, and the unit will not function.  Ask me how I know this!  I keep mine plugged into a APC Power Chute battery backup now.

love mine only time i had a problem was when i set it up under a floresent light, they will not work with floresent lights.As for speed i usually put the powder in the case and seat the bullet (amazing how that prevents double charges) and when I'm done another charge is waiting for me.

The DPS 2>3 hasn't been a problem, mine's been turned on continuously for about 2 yrs now,  I've knocked the power supply out of the outlet several times while it was on, still works great.

I also like mine alot.  Drop the charge, seat the bullet and the next charge is ready.  Need to get the #3 upgrade yet.  Only problem is when I was using it every day for the same cartridge, I left powder in it for several days, now I have ball powder glued to the inside of the unit!  I've scraped off as much as will come off, but no real problem with that, doesn't affect the function of the machine.  I've done the same with stick powder without problems.  Only leave the powder in it when I'm doing large quanities of the same cartridge.  6 of my kids like to shoot as well, and it can be several days trying to get some ammo back on the shelf!   DP

I have had an original Lyman DPS 1200 for 3 years now and twice I've had it on when a power failure occoured. Nothing happened. When power was restored I let the unit go through it's normal warm up and everything worked fine. I can't see, or understand, how removing power from the unit could "fry everything"  Bill T.
