500 Martin

Anyone heard of anyone doing one of these conversions to a 500 S&W barrel?  I found a few references to it by searching but no actual conversion threads.

I have not heard of any ...what's the dif from the standard 500? Kurt

I only recollect discussions about it, no one has made one that I know of as Kurt said. The 500 Martin is bigger than the 500S&W, closer to the 50 Alaskan, but using .500" bullets.

Yeah, Tim...thanks...that's the article I picked up on a search here, but was hoping for more information.  I've been looking around for another project, something that is relatively simple but not mainstream or has been done many times, but still not a real exotic 'cat.

I checked around when the 500 S&W first came out, but was busy with other projects.  There are several nice early BP cases that would work but I figured someone would come up with something workable very quickly so why re-invent the wheel.....again.  I had thought the 50 Alaskan necked down the 0.010" would be the first natural and easiest way to go.  I was hoping for some nice pointy .500 cal bullets also...might have to pull some 500 S&W gummybears if I get this project going.

I was also hoping someone had already jumped on the NEF 500 S&W.
