Wavy vertical cross hair in 8x Unertl scope

Just curious here. Some years back I bought a highwall that came with an 8x Unertl scope. The vertical cross hair is wavy kind of like an S shape. The scope holds a perfect zero and works just fine otherwise. Any ideas what would have caused this condition?

Certainly not normal, unless you have severe astigmatism.  Do you wear glasses?

the crosshair(rectical) needs replaced rather pricy if it works don't bother
