G-2 22LR Match
« on: July 31, 2008, 07:02:44 PM »
Guys I done a search but after looking through several threads I had no luck.  Does anybody own a .22LR TC Rifle.  I am thinking of buying a new G-2 but I want to know what to expect in the accuracy department.  I am looking for 5 shot groups in the .4s at 50yds.  So lets her group sizes and ammos please.  Thanks Kirby

I'm interested too.

Anyone hereabouts had experience with any of T/C's Contender [or Encore] rimfire barrels?

I picked up a used 22LR Match barrel, made by Bullberry, a while back.  It prefers the Federal Gold, #711, best, but the Remington Sub-Sonic is a close second.  I tried 6 different brands including a few of the higher priced 'target' ammos, (RWS, Eley for example).  Don't know if I still have the old targets though.

Comments on the factory G-2 Contender barrel please.  Since I am not buying an aftermarket barre that postings on those don't help much.  Thanks Kirby

I have a 14" match .22LR, the best it will do for me is 3/4" @ 50 yds with a 2-7X scope, I did have a 10" .22, not the match chamber, that I could hit beer cans @ 100yds with iron sights shooting from the Creedmore position, the 10" is balanced better also.

I shoot a stainless G2 .22 match in carbine configuration.  All factory.

This is my best group.  Three rounds with PMC Target Rifle, 50 yds.  I get good results with Wolf Match too though the groups may occasionally open up to .2-.3.

If you look closely at the image, the hole is much smaller than the chipped away plastic coating on the target.  It is roughly oval in shape - the 3 bullets aren't exactly in the same place  ;D

Of course, YMMV but I am very happy with my .22 barrel.

With Wolf Target Match my .22 Match G2 carbine can group under 0.5" all day at 50 yards.  At 25 yards it shoots boring little holes.  Next time out, I'll try 100 yards.
I aim to please - but often miss.

I have had the 23 inch for a couple of years now, and while I don't have any group info, I have used it in our local rimfire matches.  Fact is I can win if I do my part with it.  The other guys  are using T/C's with 17 HM2 and 17 hmr barrels......  My 17 Hmr barrel is a bit more accurate, but a whole lot more costly to shoot.

Groups will probably be just under 1/2 inch center to center with the wolf ammo.  The groups were computed by math, by way of velocity at target,  Based on a 25 shot string.

Figure that out if you can.........
