835 and 500 question

will mossberg 835 stocks and forends fit the model 500?

  I dont know if the rear stock from a 835 will fit the 500 but forestock will not. The barrel of the 835 is based off of a 10 gauge as where the 500 barrel is based off of a 12 gauge. This leaves the barrel of the 835 larger than the 500.

I think it depends on the year the 835 was made.

I bought my 835 in 1993 before the barrels were ported and the Hogue stock and forend set made for the 500 fit perfectly on my 835.
I DID NOT need the adapter nut for the forend.

I have heard some later 835 has a problem with the Hogue forend fit, but the stock fits.

Hogue make a adapter nut for the 835 so the forend fits, plus I heard the inside of the Hogue forend needs to be trimmed in order to fit the 835.
