« on: August 02, 2008, 01:34:00 PM »
I have a V.G. condition, Factory Walnut Model 7 Stock. One of the older ones with the Schnabel fore end. A friend wants it to replace His beat up stock.
What's a fair price for this?

He's asking about a proper price for the stock ONLY if I understand it correctly not the entire rifle.

While I agree I'd not want to part with the old Model Seven in 7-08 with 18.5" barrel from the first year or two of production we have they are NOT worth that on the market today. Of course I've given this one to my wife and cut the stock to fit her but still it's been here so long and has so much history in my family it would not be for sale.

You'd be hard pressed to find someone who'd pay $450 for the entire rifle at least around here and I doubt you'd find a dealer willing to put more than $300 in one on a trade.

I'd say the stock is realistically worth $50 to $75 depending on condition.

About 3 years ago, Gunsparts corp was selling them in new condition, walnut, factory finished, with butt pad, for about $125.00
