I would like to know also? When I look at the breach plug it looks to me like there is a large cavity down into the breach plug and the flame from the 209 would not have far to travel to reach the powder. I do know the these guns dont like 777 pellets. My fathers has a slight hesitation with 777 pellets but thats understandable being that the pellets are so far away from the flame.
It doesn't work reliably due to the primer carriers allowing too much gas to escape, you need a sealed ignition for it to work without hesitation. Blackhorn 209 os a progressive powder and you need flame and pressure for ignition, if one or the other is not enough, it just isn't going to work. You could use the hottest primer Fed 209A, but if you don't have the pressure (seal), you will get a hang-fire at best. You may get 1 good shot off per primer carrier, but after even only 1 shot you will get some gas cutting on your primer carrier, and thus decreasing your seal, what little there is. I have tested this extensively with the primer carriers, .25 ACP plug, and the one-of-a-kind Hubbard plug. I even used some Small Rifle MAGNUM Primers in my .25 ACP cases, and they are not even reliable 100%. It is not the length of the flame channel, the T/C Triumph has one of the longest flame channels in the Industry, yet the T/C guns work perfectly with BH209 because they have a sealed ignition.
If someone would make a breech plug like the T/C for the NEF's, there would be no problems with igniting BH209. Problem is, no one is problably going to bother with a discontinued platform, even though there are several that would buy them.
