Another BAR Mk 1 Type 2 question...
« on: August 03, 2008, 04:49:47 PM »
                    Here is another one for the experienced gunners out there. I now own a BAR Mk 1 Type 2 rifle chambered in 30-06 Springfield and I would like to have a spare magazine or two. I am having trouble locating them. I understand there are two types of magazines, (pre-1993 different then 1993 to present) and one will not fit the other. Does anyone know if a newer type will work in the older types? Example: will the BAR Mk 2 Safari magazine work in my 1989 built rifle? I live in Canada and well, there seems to be less opportunities for gun owners here. Thanks for your interest.

 I don't have an answer but you could e-mail or call the Browning folks & they should be able to help. I contacted them in the past for a few issues and they were helpful.

  Also midwestgunworks.com has a lot of Browning info & a customer service e-mail.

Wayne;
           Chesley, which is ~45 km south west of Owen Sound. I get to Toronto the odd time and could even talk myself into making a special trip as I prefer to have a spare. I have never visited Gagnon's but I have viewed their web site. Can you tell me if your purchase was a used item or a new one. Thanks for the tip. I was beginning to despair as  no US companies will ship a magazine to Canada.

           The BAR I purchased is in almost excellent condition and came fitted with a one piece Burris base and turn in rings. The original sights had been removed with the screws in place and intact. I have to get out and shoot it now. What is yours chambered in Wayne and does it have a favourite load?

They're brand new in the original package. Mine is also chambered in 30-06 and seems to shoot everything extremely well ! 180gr Remington core-loct (my favorite deer load) do real well in it ... close to M.O.A. groups @ 100 yds !

Bear Wallow;
                     $15 at piece for a magazine? I'll take 2.
