They are always at the top of the list.  One is even called References.   ;D

It's a long standing complaint about this forum softwares---the icons are too small...   this icon is supposed to a sticky.

Can you see it...without a magnifing glass...I can't...and it doesn't hwlp to change resolution, it still doesn't look like a sticky to me.

Glad you found anyway.

I don't mind them being small (even though they ARE hard to read) but they NEED to be SIMPLE and easily distinguished - easy to do with simple clear designs.

Yes, the tiny icons are hard to distinguish from each other. If I didn't already have all the sticky titles commited to memory, it would be hard for me to tell where the stickies end and the current topics begin.

If you could add Sticky: to the beginning of each tiltle, it would make it very obvious which threads are stickies and which are not.

What say?

Perhaps if half the first page weren't stickies the entire problem would go away. This forum likely has more stickies than the three or four next most sticky intensive forums on the site I suspect.

Tim, Terry's suggestion has all the elements of the KISS principle.  You could not, in our opinion, find a better one, anywhere.  Once completed, this would be a very noticeable improvement and will be appreciated by all.

Graybeard, Cat Whisperer and Double D -- I was thinking of this the other day, there are 12 stickies (I guess those are all classified as stickies) at the top of the first page. Would it be technically possible to have one master stickie (don't laugh - I dont know what the proper terminology should be) with a title that the moderators would choose (say, Master Stickie -- General Board or Forum Info -- well ok, this title isn't the best but you get the idea) that when opened would display all 12 stickies? The stickies take up almost half of the opening page and there are times when there are so many new topics posted in so short a period of time that a member has to go to the second page in order to bring a topic that is still of interest to them back to the top of the first page.

I also agree with Terry's suggestion and second Seacaostartillery's opinion that if it were put into practice it would clarify the problem of identifying the stickies.

One time we had one Master Sticky and nobody looked in it we were always getting asked "where do I Find..."  How many post have you seen where somebody  jumps right on with out even looking and says "where can I get?"   It wouldn't matter if we had one sticky or 20 stickies and icons the size of beach balls, people don't look around and see what is here first.

About once a year Tim or I go through and clean the stickies up.  I just retitled one sticky.  I have been working from my laptop on public WiFi connections for the past 6 months while my big computer got shipped from SA to Montana so things on my part have been a bit lax-- We move into the house we bought the 18th of August.  We have to move stuff from two storage lockers one 110 miles away and another 450 miles away and get set up.  Then the first of September I have to have a bit of surgery and will be out a week or two--a day or two if I have my way.

The link list needs updated also.  We'll get things cleaned up.

Very good; I wonder if Double D or Cat are going to come back on this thread and make a suggestion of where this sticky should be stuck?
