Burned By Ruger
« on: August 05, 2008, 06:09:03 AM »
Looks like I got a bumed on a  44 Mag 50th anniversay gun.  I have to run the sights about 70 thou maybe a little more to the right to get it sighted windage wise.
The sight is sloppy too.

Sooo, the gun shoots a bit off for you and you haven't tried adjusting the adjustable sights because they're "sloppy"...?   ???

Ruger's quality control leaves a lot to be desired.  It just isn't the same since the old man died.

Could it be the shooter?  Did you let someone else shoot it to see how it shoots for them?

If you don't like the sights adjusted that far off center then simply turn the barrel.
It don't take much to change point of impact a lot.
If you don't have means to do it yourself then any good gunsmith can perform that task.
Just make sure he turns it the right direction.

In you first post I thought you ment that you had to spin like a ballerina to reach 70 miles an hour before the sights would slide over. I feel for you Ruger burned me once. They allowed an sp101 to leave the shop with the sights off center to the bore. Not sure how much don't care I emailed ruger they sent the UPS van my way the gun went away and came back 3 weeks later all at no charge to me. I hate it when a company stands hehind there products. Burned again.

Sorry you feel you got burned!   That sucks!

I had a problem show up on a Ruger 77 in 338 Win. Mag.    The stock developed a little crack in the stock.  I contacted them and then followed their directions in sending it back to them.  In less than three weeks, I had the rifle back and it had an absolutely beautiful walnut stock.  All at NO charge!

Guess I am a very happy Ruger Customer!
