Someone is correct that lying as a President has various degrees of culpability. Perjury is absolutely more egregious than twisted facts or presentation of data that is erroneous, outdated or misinterpreted. A politicain lies in general, though should not and be subjected to criticism for them. Also, lies to general assembly of Congress is not out of the question when it comes to sensitive national security. Many Congressmen would gladly leak the news to the media and thus thwart or expose sources that could have dire repercussions. Just because he is a good attorney does not mean the plaintiffs have a case against the President. There is no disputing the perjury committed by Slick Willy, yet he was not convicted in his impeachment procedings, yet lost his license to practice law for it. He spent no time in jail, nor was cited for this criminal action, and still now has a large popular support. I find this disgusting and a travesty along with a completely incompetent handling of our intelligence services and foreign policy. No one even mentions his reelection statement that his support and signature, which enacted the Brady Bill took 10,000 felons off the street. What about conviction of those felons for attempting to acquire firearms illegally. Wasn't he charged with enforcement of our nation's laws? Weren't felons prevented from ownership and possession of firearms prior to enactment of the Brady Bill? He didn't even attempt to convict these 10,000 felons with a name and address for locating them. The total convictions for these firearms felons were 3, out of 10,000. Maybe these denials were not to felons, but to improper filling out the forms. So, it obviously was a lie to obtain votes with a predetermined effect. A lie to Congress on sensitive info may have been the same here. What's the big deal? No one else seems to mind it, except to bitterly criticize the power in control of the Presidency or Congress.
