Overtravel missing?
« on: August 15, 2008, 03:03:58 PM »
I picked up a new pro hunter pistol frame this evening.  I just realized there is no overtravel screw, and no hole for it in the t guard.  Has it been moved, or did I get a 5:00 Friday gun?

I believe I've read that the over travel screws have been discontinued as a cost cutting measure, so I guess we're all going to get 5:00 Friday (or maybe 8:00 Monday) guns from now on.

Cost savings?  How long have they been without that 15 cent part?  >:(

It probably wasn't the cost of the part so much as the labor to drill and tap the trigger guard.

The fixture was already made, or was most likely drilled/ tapped in part of the cnc operation to manufacture the part.  15 cents would cover the screw, and most of the work.  But, even @ 15 cents per it adds up.

Seeing how rough the trigger guard casting is, they must have stopped finish machining that part entirely.  And with the 9 lb!! creepy, gritty trigger I'm guessing some other steps where "modified" by the bean counters as well.  Did all this happen under SW or where they making changes before?

Guess I'm ordering some springs from censored word, any suggestions?

Thanks for the replies.

I have been here long enough
to see "censored word" a few times
but not long enough to know what it means ???
Could someone PM me with the history?
It has got to be a great story ;)
