Took new 444 out to the range and...
« on: August 18, 2008, 09:16:43 AM »
I took my new H&R 444 out to the range this week end.  I installed a Thompson Center 4X scope on it.  Had some difficulty getting it on paper (took about 15 shots.........my fault) and only shot 3 or 4 more rounds.  The good news is that the last 3 shots were a 2" group (from sandbags) and the Limb Saver slip on pad works very well.  I'm not sure what the trigger pull is set at but it is light, clean and crisp.  I was shooting the Hornady Leverevolution 265 grain bullets.  Sorry, I don't have a pic of the target.

Amazing how many guys at the range came over and asked me what I was shooting.

I'm very pleased with this gun on it's first outing.  Recoil is a little stout (I normally shoot a 243 Win) but very manageable.  To me it kicks more like a 12 gauge shotgun with a heavy load than a rifle.  I think with a little work and possibly some hand loads that this will be a real shooter for me! :)

Thanks,,,,
