Range Report with New Remington 700
« on: August 18, 2008, 01:19:26 PM »
Just bought a Remington 700 in .223 from the classifieds here. Its wearing a swift premier 4X12. Made it to the range today, All I had for ammo was some factory winchester 45 grain JHPs. Shot 30 rounds over about 2 hours, Smallest group was 1/2 inch & biggest group was 1 1/8th inch. A couple of the groups were 2 in one hole then one off to the left about 5/8 of an inch. Thats me yanking on the trigger Real happy with the gun so far. Im gonna have to wait to reload for this one . Kinda broke right now :'( :'(  I got some 50 grain Nosler BTs & brass just gotta get some dies. If I can get close to the groups I had today  I LL be happy :D.   Jay
I dont care what gun Im using as long as Im hunting

Good to hear!!!!!!! Nothing like a good shooting gun. Good luck with the reloading. Dale

That .5" might be hard to beat but your consistancy ought to go up quite a bit.  I found H335 is one of the best powders for mine.  And FWIW, haven't found any difference between match and standard primers.
Your mileage may vary. :D
